A podcast I enjoy has a segment they call “Who the F*ck Sells this Sh*t?” where they call up people selling odd or silly things on Craigslist as a comedy bit.

I enjoyed the description for a Tag Heuer Monaco CS2111 chrono on the ‘Bay and thought I’d share:

Note: Operation of the sub-dial(s), top (start/stop) and bottom (reset) seem not to function correctly. This should not matter, unless you plan to use them; they provide more of an aesthetic look, I believe.

Ohhhhh.... you want the watch to actually work!!! Aren’t you a stickler... ::facepalm2::

"I am the original and only owner of this timepiece. Worn only a dozen times over the past 20 years; ... I have not had this watch serviced, ..."

Just another way of telling us he's an unappreciative and clueless nitwit.

The subdials don't operate maybe 'cause it's fake, the real TAG CS2111 had a 3-register design

This should not be a criticism of the auction, but a criticism of F@$#T$^^#in @SSHoles buying watches nowadays. Yes Rolex I mean you.

Well that took about 2 seconds flat to become an unrelated Rolex commentary....it's like an obsession.

@abrod520 and @ICONO can you help me out with what you see that's obviously fake here? Comparing to photos of CS2111s I can find online, I don't see any smoking gun: dial and case seems to match, case finishing isn't inconsistent, crown looks right, etc. The think that looked worst to me was the caseback, with "TAG" so close to "Heuer", but I was able to find similar examples at other retailers, so I guess it's just a variation (the eBay watch in question has a bad-looking caseback because they never took the sticker off). The serial number on the watch doesn't show up online other than in this eBay auction.

I'm a novice, but I don't see anything clearly incorrect here—can you educate me?

(Of course, the watch appears to be broken, and it's funny that the seller doesn't think you should care, and the price looks to be too high for a watch that needs at least a service, but other than that, looks honest to me.)

Just for posterity, here are some of the images from the auction. (Not all of them, as some are duplicative.)

Yeah, for whatever reason I could've sworn I saw a 2-register watch in the link when I first checked. Still not sure this is 100% legit cause the caseback looks odd (and unlike others I could find photos of) but it could be real. Problem is, most TAGs look like fakes after 5+ years

For what it's worth, here's a matching caseback I found on Chrono24 (there's a couple others similar): [IMG]

Love how the Chrono is runnIng as well as the sub seconds.

I wonder if he thinks the Chrono sweep hand is the running seconds. That might explain why he thinks it’s broken.

I don’t think it’s fake and that wasn’t the point of the thread - description was chuckle worthy.

You ever see a genuine Grand Carrera? From the get-go they look like some cheap Chinatown knockoff of an haute-horlogerie JLC or AP.

This looks ok to me. It’s an oddly specific BIN though. If it’s broken maybe a few hundred to fix. Not very crazy movements
