Orange editions I could resist, barely, but the new yellow SUB 300T Divingstar “Poseidon Edition” wore me down. Still being available after 4 days I preordered one, without having an invitation Yellow rules! Anyone else? Photo courtesy of DOXA http://www.doxawatches.com/SUB300T-Poseidon-Edition.aspx
I really like how the crystal is flat. The domed sapphires on the previous reissues scare me, especially after I look at the dings in my domed acrylic crystals.
It’s a super cool watch but I just can’t justify owning it in addition to my Black Lung. Looking forward to seeing more pictures as it ships!
Only 500 pieces made WORLDWIDE? How could there possibly be any left to order after even a few hours? Especially with a Beads of Rice bracelet and a C-case!
Excellent point. It’s like trying to find one of those yearly produced limited edition Panerais. If you don’t look on Crono24 and find the seven for sale, you may not see one on eBay for a few weeks.
Hi dennis I am on empty but from behind the curtains I and pushing the agenda that c cases are cool ! so I need a c case w a rotating bezel .... sold my old omega Seamaster 120 years ago.....so a spot is open. Bill
You don't have to push me onto that bandwagon. I've been driving it for years! As a matter of fact, I invented the term "C-liscious!" a long time ago. PS - if this watch was 3 mm less in diameter (39.7 instead of 42.7) and we weren't slapped with an income tax bill of twenty five hundred dollars today, I might have ordered it despite it not being BLACK & ORANGE.
I'm happy that there are enough differences between this and the Black Lung that I've ordered one: thickness, crystal, HEV etc. I feel that (modern) Doxa have taken an extremely long time to come around to reproducing really close interpretations of the Original Doxa line up. I'm happy to have held out over the years until the last few months before ordering the Poseidon and the Black Lung. Compared to other brands I don't think the prices have shot up that dramatically either. I seem to remember 1200T's being US $1500 five or six years ago (?). Exchange rates and customs tariffs will have more of a bearing than price rises. The only downside is getting drawn into the WUS threads for updates and Doxa being useless at proof reading their own website and replying directly to specific questions on their own sponsored forum and instagram. Didn't get an invite either Just jumped on the leaked links and think I got my order in within the first 20 while everyone else was worried about non existent passwords and the fake "invitation only" shop page. Probably less than 25 left by best estimate of shared order numbers across various fora/forums. At least until they release the "reserved" mate's stockpile that dont get taken up.
As i wanted one for years now and could not decide in which dial option to choose because i had always a glimpse on the Sub 750 gmt Divingstar but could not pull off the gmt hand i ordered immediately. Also i like the case size and crystal better on the Poseidon then on their current 300 reissue. I think the Poseidon reedition will share the case with the 1200T by dimensions. To bad they didnt throw in the chronometer grade ETA like on their 300 reissues but on the other hand Elabore ETA's could be easily adjusted to run similar and what ive reade about them they are adjusted pretty good. Order nummbers started somewhere by 64xx and mine was allready at high 68xx 2 days ago so possibly they are allready sold out. If anyone is interested better be quick if its not already to late. I hope the wait will not feel too long
6440 is the earliest order number I've seen reported. Pretty sure that was on DiveWatchConnection. 645x was the early runner on WUS; which made me hope that I'd snagged a 00x before I saw the above order. As Larry says you've got to factor in orders of other Doxa watches which the various watch sites press releases may have promoted; though I don't think it would be significant number. Then again you need to take off the watches that may have been reserved for Doxa and Poseidon staff. There were some late releases of 'extra' Black Lungs that had been earmarked for Aqualung staff, allegedly. Though the 'on again, off again' "sold out" drama towards the end of the Black Lung pre-sale was another thing that Doxa didn't handle in the best of ways.
Hi guys Was just chatting with a Doxa rep..... at this time there are about 100 left for sale..... Good Hunting Best Bill
Wow. Thanks Bill. Shows that "we" (forum fans) have been way off. Not sure quite what the fascination has been for me with needing to know where sales are at. Maybe it's to do with the lack of information that Doxa actually release despite them having a direct channel to their customers with the WUS forum. But then again I doubt I would believe anything they said there at this stage. Anyway, with your update I think I might be cured of constant multi forum refreshing. I'll just look forward to May and showing off my Oranges and Lemons. Lovely Pro boxed set you had there. Always hoped to come across one of those hangtags somewhere .
long story about that set..... i bought it off ebay... dial was trashed... was a display piece.. was not touch in years.... dial was sub damaged. This is like in 1996-97 I wrote to Doxa asking if they had any spare parts... like a dial or hands.. A new Dirk Pitt novel was just published. I told them they should do some sort of joint marketing with the author of the bookk as it was just release. They had no idea what I was talking about so I sent them the photo of the back cover of the book showing the watch among other things.... They were amazed and I have them contact info ... and back to my watch... . they told me to send the watch to them.. I said ok.. sent it they wanted to do a total overhaul. I told them i have a local watchmaker that I work with ... so they sent it back to me with dial hand hands... i forget what they charged me or if they gave it to me as a gift... really dont remember. Best bill
