Who cares if you've got the time on your phone?

I'm just spending the evening cleaning cases while idly wondering about making a light dinner. After putting a light coat of Renaissance wax on the gold one (it prevents fingerprints) I just sat back and looked at these, so I thought I'd share:

I know which I'd prefer to glance at while sitting at my desk ... and it's not a mobile phone.

Neither is wound ...

... someone posted a line the other day which has made me smile every time I think about it: man with a watch always knows the exact time; man with two watches, never quite sure.

Those are very nice. I completely agree with your preferences. Can you tell us a bit about those pocket watch stands?

I can tell you everything about them ... the invoice is in front of me ... Cousins part number C31302 at 拢13.65 each, excluding discounts and VAT.

Edit to add: I'm just toying with some old leather (might be better finding some suede) - the stands fit the smaller, thinner Jaeger really well but I'm bothered that it might scratch the larger gold watch. So you might also want to think about glueing something to the arms to protect any watch.

Sweet!

There's two more here ready for new owners .... the brass one just needs a small adjustment - it's losing a few minutes a day.

I was seeing so many pocket watches going through auctions and being totally overlooked and unloved, I just had to find a use for them ... so that's exactly what I thought: desk clocks. I only buy ones that have something of interest but there are plenty of examples out there that are incredibly interesting. Silver and gilt dials; fusee movements; hand decorated; chronographs; chronometres... the list goes on.
