    Hello OF!

I’m trying to decide between the 2998-62 or 105.002. Both are priced the same but with different cons/pros. Let the voting begin!

    2998-62
Case is mint but refinished. Still thick, not overly polished
    DON is in great condition
Dial and hands are in great shape with only light patina
    7912 Bracelet is included
Not as rare as the 105.002

    105.002
Case is still in great condition. Polished but still thick. Shows honest vintage wear
DON in pretty good condition. Slight fade but with some surface scratches
Dial and hands have beautiful patina
    No bracelet
    Has extract

The 62 as it looks in better condition and you would probably wear more...
    Cheers

I'm not sure I agree with your "thick, not overly polished" assessment of the 2998 case. Just based on that single photo, I don't really love that case.

I would go for the 105.002 for the following reasons:

    1) The 2998 looks overpolished
    2) The patina on the hands and dial of the 105.002 can't be bought while a 7912 bracelet and a better DON (if desired) can be

Also, it depends on the asking price for both

Tough call, but for me, the 105.002, any day.

    Who wants a -62, "the least desirable of the 2998s" . :D

I'd say it's all about how your collection looks like prior to this purchase...

I'd be tempted to step into the 29xx-xx range since i don't own any of those...

When it comes to rarity, it's always nice to choose the one more rare ofcourse

From these two particular watches i like the 105.002 more

The 002 looks good, I’d pick that. The case looks soft on that 2998 and the lume looks too new for me.

"Mint but refinished" is an oxymoron.

It certainly is overpolished which would stop me buying it.

Between those two actual watches, 105.002 without a doubt.

I would pick the 105.002. Wonderful patina, strong case, very harmonous

Yeah that’s a bad pic of it. These straight lug cases have some bad angles that make them hard to judge. But I’ve seen side angles as well

No dings is what I should have stated. Case looks too clean for its age.

    Because it's been hugely overpolished

Hands down the 105.002.... because of the patina, hands and dial. You can always get a better DON for it if you want.

Hey give it 6 months and the fakes will be nearly indistinguishable from the real ones so we can all relax and focus on the watch and not the black ring nobody uses.

The 105.002 looks to have a more balanced and harmonious patina.

The 105.002 looks like a very nice watch indeed. With the "extract" as well. I much prefer the lume.

The 2998-62 with that lovely bracelet is obviously desirable, but a bit on the 'shiney' side... you'll be hypnotising your self every time you scratch your nose!

dont like the case of the 2998 looking at this picture, but can be a bit overexposed. also bit strange that there is alomst no patina on the lume plots of the 2998. the watch is almost 60 years old. is that a plastic on the hesalite of the 2998?
