I recently found out that my uncle has quite a collection of watches that I had no idea about. If you were getting one watch, which one would you get and why?

The nautilus! Although I would consider the AP a classic genta as well but the nautilus sure beats it to the bat. Good luck with the choosing (but looks like your luck is already more than great).

Agree, the PP first. Then the AP. These are both masterpieces of design and quality. That VC is interesting, but not on the same iconic plane as the first two. Don't let him try to palm off the Longines to you.

Nautilus, but then the AP to get isn't that one but rather the 15202, and the Nautilus to get is the 3700

really? I've never seen a Nautilus in person. Can you tell me about His Piguet, Longines, and VC?
I was a bit surprised that he had all these watches as he didn't strike me as someone who was loaded, but then again he worked for a big corporation until he retired and had no kids, so I wouldn't be surprised if he had disposable income either....

Its not just that, the crowns are rough, the fitment of the endlinks is sloppy the endlinks are squared not rounded like they should be, its a very poor quality copy. The AP and VC are even worse, hands dial and case details are all off by a lot.

well damn. Thanks fellas for the analysis. I'll just laugh this one off.

I need to take a pic of the old Rolex Date Just that my dad has to see if that one's a fake too. One of his business associates gave it to him about 30 years ago and none of us kids wanted it as it's so ungodly flashy with gold and diamonds LOL. I'll post a pic next time I'm at his house to see what you all think.

I don't think anybody is knocking Longines, Ash just said he's not all that familiar with them.

Longines are a well respected marque and have a huge following on this forum.

Nothing against Longiness, but if the others where real they're on a different league, that's all.

I was a purchaser a few years back. We had a supplier in Taiwan who visited about twice a year, he always showed up with a huge shopping bag of the "better" knock offs which he handed out around the office like candies. Any make and model you could think of, the entire staff hand a collection like the one above, people used to chuck them out as soon as they gave any trouble but many of them lasted for years. The head purchaser had the biggest Rolex collection I'd ever seen.... total value about twenty bucks.

Maybe thats where these "uncle" types get their swankie watches.
