Which watch is considered nice by your husband/wife/bf/gf?

During weekend, I was just scrolling through my watch instagram account, until my wife commented: "Why are you looking at those ugly watches?"
I was surprised by her remark, but also curious. I asked her which watch in her opinion that looked nice. So we scrolled on Instagram, we saw quite a lot of watches, which most called out as ugly watches by my wife

This is her summary for mainstream watches (that I remember on top of my head):
Ugly: Patek Nautilus, AP Royal Oak, Rolex Submariner, RM, Panerai, all Cartier, JLC Reverso
    Okay: Rolex Datejust, Omega Speedmaster
Nice: JLC MUT Moon, Breguet Moonphase

It was fun to hear her honest, non watch-nerd opinion on popular watches. :D:D

Does anyone ever ask his non watch-nerd wife/gf about which watch looks good? Share your story! Or if you want to know my wife opinion on certain watch(es), please feel free to post it here :p:p

She thinks the Patek 5167 is completely ugly but loves the 5164.

Oh you mean I can go more expensive, say no more because I love it also.

1968 Grand Seiko high beat. I’m parting with some different watches that arent getting wrist time and despite her seeing this on my wrist at least once a week she gave me the “don’t you dare” convo

As far as she’s concerned they all need to go. However on a trip she joined me on in 2014 she approved this purchase... 9F440AF6-FBF6-40D8-BD8D-2F9D1670609D.jpeg

This thread is actually quite interesting, because it highlights the often divergent opinions both men and women have about what looks good on the opposite sex.

The watch pictured below is a great little watch, a Hamilton Custer with a 982M movement, very high quality. I wear it to work for the purpose of utility only: it fits well until exam gloves that I wear all day long. Personally, I feel it is way too small for my tastes. However, surprisingly, I frequently get compliments about it from my female patients. Guys always mention that it looks like a woman's watch. Go figure.

That is the same thing my wife said! Basically she said all divers are ugly. For speedmaster, it's still okay-ish..

Same as well, apparently she likes JLC and Breguet, but finds Rolex and Omega ugly and boring ::facepalm1::. We didn't see annual calendar JLC, but we saw JLC perpetual calendar and MUT Moon and she likes both. She even recognized JLC as the brand on Dr. Strange's watch in the movie.

My apology. I edit the title already
Is your husband also non-WIS? Does he wear watch? Which watch does he find nice and ugly?

Hey, you are not the only one, I also like small, simple, yellow gold dress watch
But you are right, apparently what most men consider the watch of gentlemen like chrono or divers, apparently don't look nice on my wife POV. But she also does not like simple dress watch. Apparently she likes somewhere in between: dress watch with some complication, but not too much

My wife’s favourite. Shown here many times before. Early 1960s Omega Sapphette, 14-karat white gold, white waffle dial, faceted synthetic sapphire crystal that is tinted pastel blue, manual winder, after market bracelet. She wears her Rolex more often, but this one for dressing up.

My girlfriend liked an old Bulova Ambassador enough that it became her watch. Sometimes when she wears it she doesn't even wind it, it's just a piece of jewelry to her.

I cal dibs, I don't have a 982M yet. I wear a Hamilton Turner to work in my regular rotation. Fantastic watch that's powered by the 770 movement. I do get a lot of compliments on it from women.

I don’t think I’ve ever dated a man with questionable taste in watches... that would be a red flag for me!

As a watch-nerd-woman who only likes and collects men’s automatic watches, I am perhaps a bit of an outlier..

Thanks for my fondness for boys toys,
I will say, however, that I tend to be a most excellent gift-giver!
Future husband has Patek and an Aston Martin in his future...

Since I have yet to get any negative feedback from a counterpart on my favorites, I will say that the only watches I have disliked on a dating partner were Hublot (black magic, so boring) and Richard Mille (no..just no.)

    I would fully approve:
