I have been offered a free Extract of the Archives on any one of my Omegas by my local boutique.
Problem is figuring out which watch. I have narrowed it down to three and asking what all of you think.
Any particular reason to chose one over the others.

    1- Omega Centenary
    2- Speedmaster -69 Apollo 11 Straight text
    3- Speedmaster Japan Racing Dial

    Thanks

I learned something new today: Extract of the Archives.

The speedmaster apollo is a gorgeous watch. I agree with with @Drawarms

Speedmaster Apollo for me! I remember the days when you could simply email Omega with you number and they would supply the information for free. I think the gentleman was called Mr Diethelm. I remember him sending me the details form my straight lug Speedy in 1998/99. Oh, so simple....

    69 Tony!

Why would you want to learn the day of delivery of the Japan and where it was sent to...

    I can tell you that...

Date of delivery: Some month in 2004

    Country Japan

    £150 please lol

Hardly seems worthwhile for modern piece... more charm and £££££ in vintage I guess. Personally I would not pay £150 in any case. You can get a rough idea of the age of the watch from the S/N Service papers worth more to me from STS....

Definitely the Speedy -69. Cooler to know, and the value of the information might be greater.

Out of curiosity: why are they giving an extract for free? Don't wanna pry, but I'm just wondering if its some sort of promotion that others could potentially benefit from also.

Depends if you have papers for the Japan though. The 69 is more interesting but those don't need verification since the caseback is not in the extract.

    Speedy '69.
Consider getting for the others too, even on your own dime.

    Hi @tpatta [emoji68]

Did you know that the Curator at the Omega Muzium at Bienne has a name uncannily similiar to your avatar profile name ?
His name is PeTros ProTopApAs [emoji3]

So let's assume The Omega President signs your Extract ( Is it Straight writing 145.022 -69 Cal 861 ? ) then your watch would surely be worth like a couple of Grand more ?[IMG]

I see many complaints about the price of extracts, but I love 'em. They're a nice solution to the 'I don't know what to give my WIS husband as a present because he only likes watches that we can't afford' problem, for one. And they look really nice. Well packaged, wax seal, nice paper, CEO autograph...it feels really exclusive. And I'm not opposed to the idea of archives with a functiong business model. Too often are such departements the first on the chopping block in bad economic times. It's not the Swatch University mind you: they'll only keep archives around and mr. Petros employed as long as they believe they are (somehow) beneficial to the economic functioning of the company.

Are they even capable of giving any information on 60s Speedmasters? Other than where they were delivered to? I'll go against the grain and say that the Centenary would be more fun.

That's a piece of information I'd like to know, actually. I know who. From a handwritten date I think I know when. But the gent was an expat and the watch does not appear to have been U.S. bound. So where was it purchased?

No value in it really, but given that it's all Omega probably has, I'd like to know.

Unless you have all the paperwork for the Japan racing, that's the one I'd do. Those are always a little suspect given how easy it is to mod one. If you do have full kit for it though, then the -69.

Why not more pics of these watches?
