Which Vintage Seamaster to buy? (Repainted dial or not?)

Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well & staying safe! I am about to buy my first evert vintage watch, a Seamaster 165.002. I have been looking at two listings. One on Chrono24 (with great images, private seller this is his only listing) and the other on eBay (private seller, multiple listings, great feedback). They're both the same price, however the one on Chrono24 will be about 拢120 more after import tax as it's from out the UK (I am prepared to pay if dial isn't repainted, since this since the watch looks in better condition than the one on listed on eBay) both watches are priced at 拢550.

The seller on Chrono24 said the watch is original yet states that he 'thinks the dial has been repainted'. The watch did sell but has since been re-listed? I just wanted someone with more expertise than I to check and see if this is the case. As I honestly can't tell if a dial has been repainted or not. The eBay seller says everything is original including the dial. I have posted both images of the watches below 馃榾. Any advice or comment on these pieces and which one you'd go for would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all 馃榾

Yup, that's a redial. And possibly an incorrect crown, definitely a fake clasp and a tired looking movement.

OMG that dial is horrendous.

At least it's not neon-green or baby-blue...

If you need any more opinions, I agree that it's a very poor re-dial.

@mk1998 open the picture of the 166.002 you posted and use google or the forum search to look for another example, which you put next to it for comparison. Closely look at the font of the writing: You'll notice how the original one has thin, delicate printing, notable serifs on the letters. The redial, though, has thick printing, and a font - if you even want to call it that - that has nothing to do with what would've left the factory. Also, look at further details: The positioning of the "SWISS MADE", which, on the redial, is a little too high so it's partly underneath the 6 marker.

I'm aware this might look indistinguishable from a real one to an untrained eye, so forgive us for being blunt about the quality of this. Some of the members here have likely looked at thousands of dials, after a while you develop an eye for it.

Hi, no worries at all! I sincerely appreciate everyone taking the time to share their knowledge on it!

Thanks for the advice, I'll shall have a look and try to see if I can spot the differences! I want to learn as much as possible. As I said, I don't know any better! Is it a re-dial in both examples? In that case the search continues! 馃榾 also people are pointing out the crowns too... I did ask if they were after-market, once again it just comes down to my lack of knowledge on these beautiful watches 馃榾

Watch #1 also lacks the lume pips you would expect. That's not always an aesthetic problem - but it is a redial tell.
