Hi all,
I'm thinking about getting a tablet. Do people have any views about which has the best camera for macro shots?
Thanks
Daniel

Having never queued up for an Apple product, how long after "announcement" does it usually go on sale?

I've watched an investigative report in TV, Electronic retailer who carry Iphone and Ipad get retail margin of less than 1 EURO.

Sorry, by "sale" I mean available at retail outlets.

In my experience, the iPad takes decent pictures and video, even though it lacks a flash. I would suggest looking at Apples site and checking out their refurbished iPads. I bought my wife one and it was "New" in all aspects, and was cheaper.

I have Samsung Notes 8. The 8 MP camera is decent. Unlike Samsung Galaxy S4, it still has macro mode, so it could take watch picture well without having to play with zoom.
The weakness of Samsung tablet and smartphone camera is in low light condition.

In bright and sunlight condition Samsung camera is similar or slightly better than Iphone due to its higher megapixel. However if you plan to take the picture indoor with room light or limited focused light, then Samsung picture quality is inferior. Its autofocus will have difficult times to find the sweetspot of the object. I haven't find the way to have right setting in low light condition.

Iphone camera is far superior in low light condition due to its bigger size CCD sensor, eventhough the resolution is half of Samsung S4.

Just my 2 cents.

Might want to check out: dxomark for some specs to help your decision... Though they are 'mobile' phone camera specs, most of the tablets within the same brand have identical cameras. Hope that helps and good luck!http://dxomark

So, looking at the new iPads...
- the iPad Air doesn't seem to have a camera upgrade (or if so, certainly not to the level of the iPhone5)
- does the new iPad mini have a new camera?

I think the mini does, but using any ipad for macro isn't going to be good, for one its going to cast a big shadow over the watch being photographed

So, a fuller story. I get a phone from work, a crappy blackberry with a crappy camera. I don't get any choice. I currently use an iPod touch for forum browsing, eBay, etc, but that also has a crap camera and small screen, so I've decided I want something better.

I could get an iphone5s, but I don't need a phone and the screen is no bigger than what I currently have. Hence thinking a tablet.

Btw, these were taken on my wife's ipad4

I'd just get a second hand decentish point and shoot camera tbh, much cheaper and far superior

Sorry don't really rate the iPad, iPhone 5 yes, pretty good for watch photography and a handy wee app called "Big Lens" adds a bit of fun.
