I know you get what you pay for but I don't plan on fixing watches...I just need a spring bar tool for swapping out the strap on my SMP 300 ceramic with SS James Bond strap (god! I hate calling it James Bond). I ordered one from China...mechanically it's fine...however it's too wide. So now before I order another one, can any of you with experience tell me what size spring bar tool I should be getting to remove my SS strap?

I use a Bergeon 6111 myself. Don't stab yourself in the thumb with it, its extremely painful.

Although the writing on mine is almost completely worn off, this is the same one I use. I use it everyday, multiple times per day.

New tips are available if needed - many modern Bergeon tools are not where the quality of the older stuff, but this one is all good.

I used the Bergeon at first, occasionally scratching a watch. Those sharp tips can cut through stainless like butter. Then I spoke to an Octogenarian watch dealer who convinced me to use a 1.40mm watchmaker flat tip screwdriver. Never looked back. Master this and it's a breeze.

140mm ? Isn't that like 14cm or about 5 inches? Maybe that's the length of the screwdriver? either way, the spring bar tool I have now is 2mm wide and that's too wide. I'm waiting to hear back from from these people on what I need. http://www.10watches.com/ Someone recommended the Bergeon 6767 but I'm not clear if I need the S or the F. I'm guessing it signifies Small and Fine.

    Typo, 1.40mm.
This is need not be exact, 1.20 can work too.

How about for those bracelets and straps that hide the entire bar? I have been using the fishing line trick that works most of the time but I have a "40's" ss ladies bracelet on a Benrus and I can't get anything into the miniscule gap.

I tend to use the larger end for removing straps - easy to slip in in between the lug and strap, then a little pull and the bar is out.

The narrow end is perfect for bracelets, and of course the pin is great for watches with lug holes.
