Dear all, I'd love to buy a Speedmaster Moonwatch: I tried the new models in an Omega Boutique and I fell in love. The one with double sapphire seems more "sturdy" ( https://www.omegawatches.com/watche...rofessional-chronograph-42-mm/31130423001006/ ), the one with hesalite crystal is more "correct" ( https://www.omegawatches.com/watche...rofessional-chronograph-42-mm/31130423001005/ ). Which one would you buy? I'd like to buy a watch that lasts for years, maybe the sapphire one is more resistant? In this moment I have not the budget to buy it new, which do you think is a good price to buy it used? Is it a delicate movement that is better to buy new? (also: I'm not expert enough to see if a dial has been repainted or if the watch was polished). Do you think an used Speedmaster Automatic (reduced, 39 or 40 mm) like this one ( http://www.chrono24.it/omega/speedmaster-automatico-reduced-art-om122--id5051810.htm ) would also be nice or is it better to wait - maybe some years - in order to buy the new Professional with its amazing special box? I'm really thinking to a Speedmaster but I have no experience and I don't know which one to look... Thank you very much for your precious advices
Moonwatch with hesalite. No question. http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/om...on-big-box-full-set-omega-straps-4360362.html
This one: https://www.omegawatches.com/watche...rofessional-chronograph-42-mm/31130423001006/ The man in the Omega Boutique said sapphire is more resistant then hesalite
3rd thread on this in 2 weeks! Most people prefer the look of the hesalite. The sapphire tends to have a white ring on the dial from most angles and the proportions are not as nice due to the hesalite having a more pleasing profile on the crystal. Unless your beating on the watch hesalite is fine. Most people here own and prefer the hesalite.
Here's one in the sales section. https://omegaforums.net/threads/fso...moonwatch-hesalite-311-30-42-30-01-005.57809/
Years ago I asked myself the same question and soon after buying a Speedy DayDate I ended at an 145.022 Why? The Mk40 is too small for me and once you have a Moonwatch on your wrist you feel the history of the watch I prefer Hesalite due to the soft look of it and the possibility to polish it on my own. Max
I pondered the same. Hesalite vs sapphire vs sandwich vs moonphase. I did the right thing in the end and got the classic Hesalite. I wear it loads. Buy a tube of polywatch too and everything is groovy.
Thank you! So, at the end it is better to look only at the 42mm Professional and to leave the cheaper Automatic? I don't buy to resell, but if I have, I understand that 42mm hesalite is better then sapphire and then reduced, right?
