2 models to choose from, one is a 2005 Speedmaster model 3570 with box and documents and the other is an 80's Speedmaster with the long "S" and "R" in the dial? Both at the same price of €2700. I have read in different forums and reviews that the 3570 is the one to get. True? What about the 80's model, does the long S and R increase the value or am I better with the newer 3570? thanks!!
Tall S/R was from 76 through the 80's if not the 90's I believe. I think its the most common dial. Pictures of them both would be the decider.
I value boxes and papers as part of a watches full set. If all other things were equal, the box and papers would sway me.
I find the lack of pictures in this thread disturbing. Not true at all - I decided on the Breitling Chrono Cockpit.
Service history, condition and whether or not you prefer working lume or faded tritium would be the deciders for me. Otherwise they are pretty much the same watch with only very minor differences. You have to go back to around 1976 until there is a difference worth considering IMO, though the drop S does look good on the 80s stuff. Would I pay the £2600 recently asked for a 80s one vs the ~£1900-2000 for a tidy modern one. Errr no. Hell no.
