Which Seamaster of those two and why?

Hi guys, I have a Speedmaster Pro and looking to add a Seamaster.
I like those two models, but each has pros and cons for me. Want to hear you opinions, maybe it will help me to make a final decision :)

    Seamaster 300

I like the design absolutely, but have a bitter taste because it is reissue with pseudo patina, etc.

    Seamaster Diver 300M

This design appeals to me aesthetically a bit less, but I think it is a true classic, not a reborn vintage inspired model, the same feeling as my Speedy Pro, which I like a lot.

Both are co-axial, which I think is great. I do not like a bracelet on any of those models (too shiny polished on SM300 and a bit overdetailed to my taste on 300M), so I see wearing them on leather / nylon mostly.
Price is not a big issue as I'm looking for a long therm relationship ;)

So please give your opinions! Those like "None of them, look for a good vintage SM" are also welcome ;)

    Diver 300M.
As I already have the SM300
Prob not the answer you want but the sm300 will take any style strap and looks good causal sporty and dressy. Ticks all the boxes imo

It is a close call, since I like them both. In the end I would probably pick the Diver 300M. It's a great update of a classic and looks absolute killer on the wrist. I like the Seamaster 300 but the case, the lugs, are too long for my taste and it feels a bit of a reissue even though it is entirely its own. I would definitely be very happy with both but forced to make a choice: Diver 300M.

Neither of these 2, the choice is to hard.
Go for a 2254.50, also a classic Omega diver and still many examples to be found in as new condition.
And they look good on rubber, leather or bracelet.

Seamaster 300 by a million miles. Has a vintage look without the hassle of vintage, and the movement is way better than the Diver 300M.

300 MC hands down for me. Excellent and updated movement, very comfortable on the wrist, and the micro adjustable bracelet is awesome.

I have to admit I like the dial and hands if 2254.50 much more than Diver 300M, but isn't co-axial worth the deal? Inhouse with wice longer service intervals, new technology ahead of many...

If the comparison is SM300 vs SMP 2254.50, then 2254.50, tremendous value

If the comparison is SM300 vs black ceramic SMP, then SM300 because IMHO SM300 is more stylish, arguably better build quality

IMHO coaxial does not do much for me in day-to-day terms

I'm a sucker for dive watches. Get the Seamaster Pro 300M.

between those two, my pick is the SM300; personally, I do like its "reissue and pseudo patina" a lot more than other poorly executed "reissue" elements on other models, e.g. the 2998 :coffee:

I like the design a lot and I agree it is one of the nicest reissues around. Wondering how will I feel owning it a long therm when this reborn trend is gone.

Do you like vintage watches? Once the 300 is scratched up, it'll look like a perfectly-patina'd vintage watch. All while being one of the best sport watch movements in decades.

To be honest (and possibly a bit harsh), you have pointed out in the original post why you find both less than totally appealing. Rather than ask a random bunch of people on the internet to persuade you, why not spend a bit more time looking at, and if possible, trying on different models and even - gasp - different manufacturer's models until you find a watch that truly "sings" to you without any bum notes.

If I was thinking of spending that amount of money, that's what I'd do.

Thank you. I'm here already after spending quite some time and trying on a lot of options. And those two came closest, but sadly not 100%. You right, maybe it should be love from a first sight, but unfortunately none of the modern watches comes closer. Besides Speedmaster which I already have and which is also not modern, but luckily is still in production.

I love the SM 300 and the Diver does nothing for me.

Going a little outside your original two watch comparison here but I think I'm catching the parameters you're looking for in your next watch: Have you taken a peak at a couple of the JLCs with some resemblance to the 300MC?

Either of these tickle your fancy?

I like the 300M more. The dial is classic... Also Not a huge fan of the PCL and faux patina on the 300.

I chose the 300M with a black dial. The gloss dial is killer, I prefer a date and the Bond bracelet reminds me of a beads of rice bracelet. No wrong answer here.

oh yeah, I know them and like them, but the price tag is above my budget at the moment... 1,5-2x to the Seamaster 300 price.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Deep Sea is a chronograph and I have a Speedy already...
