My collection is missing a pilot or military watch. As I’m not really knowledgeable on the subject I would like a push from people that do. I have IWC at the back of my mind but I’m open to suggestions. Please show me yours.

Pilot watches. There are so many.
I've been drawn to IWC. Having owned one I need to buy another but lately I've been looking at Stowa's.
They have the heritage at about $500 US

Look at the Bremont lineup. I like my 2, but they are custom for my flying days. Can't go wrong with a Nav B or Nav A Uhr as well. The IWC pilot watch is great, too. I had the Top Gun version and it got a lot of wrist time.

This is a way cool custom watch I bought that is based on the 8 day clock in most military jets (A-13A).

If you want a true pilot's watch, then just get a G-Shock. This is what I wore for 20 years in the cockpit. Yes, face side down so it wouldn't catch on the canopy rail if I had to eject.

I don’t want a true pilots watch as I’m not going to fly a plane just a pretty pretend one will do.

Stowa or Laco sterile dial is my vote. Tutima.. might as well go with heritage.

The Hamilton team earth at 43mm if you can find one.

You could build your own pilot watch...that’s what I did at a 3 day AWCI “Build A Watch Course” last year...each of us in the course built a generic flieger with an ETA 6497-1 movement and had the option to purchase the flieger at the completion of the course. The course itself was $600 and the flieger was an additional $300 if you wanted to purchased it.

If you have a big wrist, you might be able to pull of an original (or Laco LE) 55mm B-Uhr which is what a lot of WWII pilots flew It's the monster on the left.

Looks more like a diver. Might be useful if you had to eject or bail out over water, though.

One should remember that the larger one from the period was worn over the flight suit, hence so large and originally with a very long strap.

Here also my original untouched one made by WEMPE. 8079_pl16.jpg wat18032-04.jpg

Spot on! I love the vintage photo. And the Wempe! I was going to buy an original 55mm Laco but missed the opportunity. I'll see how I like the modern LE Laco version. I can wear a 55mm G-Shock so maybe this won't look silly.

    It's really nice.
I've been really digging the LACO 1925. I wish more people covered the watch.

Well it sold out almost instantly. It’s still on thier site. It got covered really well when they announced it a few years ago.

IWC would be a good choice
They have models for all sizes or wrists.
The big pilot is my preferred one
    Cheers

If you like it garish, the Red Arrows line by Citizen is a very inexpensive option. But personally, I'd go for a Bremont.
