Which of these three modern Rolexes, and why?

I know it's a very personal decision, but I'm very curious as to the opinions here as to which might be the best 'one and only' modern Rolex.

I know I may only be kidding myself saying that 馃槈). I was in Hong Kong last night, and it was remarkable how many Rolex AD's I saw. I think they're just prolific as Waffle Houses in Atlanta; virtually every corner!

Couldn't resist dropping into one for a few test drives:

I think the blue dial/green sapphire Milgauss is the most eye-catching, but the black-dialed one is mighty handsome!

Then, there's the more 'classic' Explorer. My wrist is only 17mm circumference, and it actually feels a little better on than the 'Gas'...might also bear mention, it would be in a rotation with at least a dozen other watches, and I'm rarely ever in a formal, or even semi-formal environment, i.e, looking to wear it as 'casual' or 'dressy casual'...馃憤

D) none of the above? 馃槈 If I was going to get just one modern Rolex, it'll probably be the new 2016 steel Daytona.

Hope you had the chance to also check out the plethora of second hand shops in HK!

How do I find those ( I will have only part of one day)? Favorite shop?

I'd be even more interested in vintage, but I understand you have to travel to far north HK to find those shops... although I did run into one in south Kowloon last time I was here.

The Blue Dial Milgauss. I always like the Models you'r not seeing on every third Rolex owners wrist. Plus it looks stunning and wears just so nicely on the wrist. Wish my Omega PO bracelet would be that comfortable.

I'd prolly roll with a SS Datejust. If it has to be one of the above then the exp as it's slightly more discreet on the wrist and it looks better imo.

Of the three, I'd go for the blue/green milgauss. But I have a couple of Rolex and would go with Standy...a nice JLC.

dont discard the 116000 (36mm OyPerp --- kindalike a non-black Ex1 and a non-date DJ)???

I also have one of those manly 17cm wrists 馃憤

Not a fan of the blue dial/green crystal. But either of the other two would do! First pick, the Milgauss, then the Explorer

Explorer for me.. but probably vintage.

I know it's personal, but is modern what you really want?

Milgauss blue/green version; I am partial to this watch but wish it was bigger.
Has very striking light play on the dial in person.

None of these but A ceramic Sea-dweller would be my choice of the new models. They epitomise everything Rolex,

I have to say the blue /green milgauss is probably one of the most beautiful dials and color combo on any watch. The Milgauss eludes sexy, class, sophistication. But it's also very different. Its nlt the run of the mill subC... It's a tool watch and a sports watch and they're rarely seen in the wild. This is a no brainer for me. Blue green any day.
Or you could really make some heads turn and get what I got 馃槈

plus ... as an added benefit you get the lumenous 3-6-9 instead of the flashy-shiny-useless ones of the new 39mm Ex1

so, as mentioned you get at the same time a:

- 36mm non-black Ex1 with vastly improved bracelet and lume 3-6-9
- 36mm non-date DJ1 with vastly improved bracelet and without date

sounds like a winning proposition - I am going this route ...

cheers, Al

ps: not mine ... I am still waiting for the hands --- 馃槈

Blue green Millgauss is striking and pretty. But the watch is a dead end. The current Omegas are leaps and bounds more anti magnetic at this point. I just wonder how long Rolex will continue to make this anti-magnetic watch that is so outclassed by watches not billed as being anti-magnetic.

I'd go classic datejust or gmt
