I can usually spot a Rolex Explorer II (white dial), Cartier Ballon Bleu, and AP Royal Oak.

I'm pretty bad with dive watches, as so many look the same.

You?

Breitling is a pretty easy identification. Same as Rolex and a Speedmaster.

Australia is pretty much a Tag heavy country for men’s watches. So probably 8-10 luxury watches I see at the airport are Tag,s

Oil rig workers are pretty much Seiko with a few Rolex Or Seamasters mixed in.

Panerais are pretty obvious from a distance, for me.

Distance?
You could identify this using Google Earth.

Daytonas, if not many, stand out for their concentric rings. Daydates also have a look. The owner has a certain age also that is a giveaway.

Snowflakes.

Seamaster swordhands. Saw a Bond LE recently at the airport.

Unfortunately, mostly seen are the soulless dark hole of apples.

I would think Panerai, although I've yet to see one.

Speedmasters are like a friendly port in a storm.

Honestly, none from a distance. Have identified so many watches incorrectly I try not to bother unless I'm closer and can strike up a conversation. I'd like to think I could safely spot a panerai but I bet it would turn out to be a Daniel Wellington knowing my record.

Ha! People still wear these?!? I worked for a largish skateboard shop chain here in Southern CA and in the late 2000s to mid 2010s we would sell these like hot cakes. Big wrist, small wrist, didn’t matter we couldn’t keep enough of them in the display case. A 51mm case diameter, and if I remember correctly, something like 15mm to 20mm thick, even for a big wristed individual I never saw the appeal. I had no idea they were still popular.

None. Because all popular designs are copied.
Ah wait, there is one:

Cause I'm getting sick even without seeing it...

Omega Ploprof. There is no mistaking that for anything else.

Rolex GMT Master 2 Pepsi. Can spot them a mile away. And so can robbers...

Really? I couldn't tell the difference if a guy in 1m distance would wear one

If in doubt, I would always assume that it's a fake or a lookalike.

I very rarely see anyone wearing a nice watch. But a few years ago I saw someone wearing a Daytona, and it was easy to recognize.

I used to own a ‘70s vintage Rolex Daytona Cosmograph. At an NAWCC banquet 30 years ago, I had a guy 50 feet away, recognize the watch. He hunted me down later to ask if the watch was for sale! 🤨

Seiko Astron (the early, 47mm models). Seiko Turtles (all 5,000 references look the same to me at a distance), and I would have said the sparkle of Grand Seiko’s, but I mis-identified a Zenith as a Grand Seiko recently (they are shinny as well).
