I'd pick the Tresor - that honeycomb dial is lovely in a RG case

Cellini is the exception that proves the rule with Rolex resale value, they're harder to sell than luggage or Citroens.

Every time I look at them I remember why. Rolex make great sports watches. :)

Even knowing this was just advertisement I took a look at the website. The articles are just spam: SEO keyword soup written for search engine crawlers, not for humans.

To answer the question, I'm convinced the only reason someone would buy a Cellini is to have the crown on the dial.

Neither. Looking at the tresor I can't stop thinking it looks like a redial of a vintage watch dial!

Yeah, and those Cellini's aren't cheap either - USD 18-20k new!

I could think of many other lovelier dress watches I could buy for that money, new or pre-owned. A JLC QP in SS, for example. Or a pre-owned Lange 1815 in WG.

    Master Co-Axial beats the Rolex.

Precisely, the Skydweller is even more nuts, spending Patek/Lange money for a complicated modern Rolex...

There are so many nice watches out there.
Why waste hard earned cash on any of those?

So no Rolex lovers here on the Omega site...... that is a surprise.

Tressor for me..... my '55 is my grail watch.

The Tresor has been on my radar screen for over a year and is consider a grail piece for me......but with three kids entering college soon it will have to wait.

The Omega Tresor fits all my criteria when a modern vintage looking example.........imho

I own a couple Rolex, but would not get a Cellini. But wouldn't get a Tresor either. I agree with Northernman on this.

In my experience, most Omega "collectors" dont not limit themselves to only Omega, the idea of being a "fan boy" being uncomfortable to us.

I cant say the experience is the same for Rolex collectors. Many RFBs can be quite tunnel visioned, and it seems to satisfy them nicely. Heaven forbid all those Rolex fan boys start spending all that money in the Speedmaster market.

I will love a watch who ever made it, if it appeals to me.

Love my GMT Master II and sub 114060 and don't mind Explorers or the odd Daytona, but Cellini? Nah, send it to Mars or whatever. The tressor doesn't do much for me either.

Just checked the price on the Omega Tresor (around $15k USD retail) and the Rolex Cellini (around $18k USD retail).
Neither are horrible examples (would prefer the Omega over the Cellini to answer the OP).
For the money, I would be looking at JLC MUT's or better yet, VC Patrimony. If used, that opens up Patek and Lange as possibilities.

I was in a vintage motorcycle club for years and could never figure out the "one make" guys.... you just miss out too much by getting all narrow minded like that.
