Hi all Omega lovers I just got hold of an Omega Speedmaster case with serial number 77079028 and want to build up a whole watch. Its a 42mm case, see attached images. Which year is that? Next to a 1861 movement which movement holder do I need? Anything to watch out for? Thanks, Niko
You are going to need a lot of parts. Movement, movement spacer, screws, seals, caseback, dial, hands, etc. The project could be fun if you have the time and money.
The problem is the case number matches the movement serial number. So at the end of the day it doesn’t matter. Any 861 variant will work. You can get clear casebacks with spacers on eBay cheap. Dial and hands are easy to source on eBay as well. Then I think you need a retention ring but don’t quote me on that.
Since it will not be an original if the new numbers dont fit: can I use a Lemania 1873? Any particular version?
As you can see in the photo, this has correctors on the case on the side opposite the pushers, so this is for a Cal. 1866 moonphase movement. Serial number: 77079028 Article ref: 35765000 Cheers, Al
Fantastic. Thanks so much Al. I presume a 861 and 1861 fits too? What is this worth just for interest?
I've never tried to fit the wrong movement in this case, so I can't say if it would work - movements are the same height so possibly. I have no idea what a used partial case for a moonphase speedy is worth either...
