Hi all I know there were various iterations of the 863 movement but I'm no certain which one I have. The serial 4830xxxx would seem to date it to 1994. And its printed as 17 jewels. However is this the gilt version? Which from my reading up was from 1995. Have I got an early gilt 863? Thanks
That is a normal gilt whoch went up to around 1996 probably production stopped around 1995 or so then used up during the transitional 1996/1997 years. An early gilt is in the 80’s with a copper movement.
It’s 88-89. Actuall 17 jewel one with 17 jewels marked. MWO states the 18jewel hit in 1995, but all other related calibers got the 18th jewel in 88 or so but remain marked 17 until the early 90’s. Either way MWO puts it at 88-95. 4830xxxx is in line with my statements.
thanks both - pretty sure its 93/94 - don't know if its got the 19th Jewel or not - have the warranty card somewhere but its packed away. I put it on an 1171 so Im all good to rattle away.
Mine is 48269xxx. Serial number a bit lower than yours. I bought mine in late 1991. Mine is one of 4,000 produced, and it is not a numbered edition. Our bracelets are not the same. Picture shown has the case back off, but it appears to be the same back as yours.
Our bracelets are the same , this is an additional 1171 I bought as I like the look. I'm a sucker for straps and bracelets.
Well then. The bracelet shown on your Speedmaster is different to the one shown in the image of mine. Mine has milled center links, and yours (I believe) is an earlier design.
I have the other one put away, I have 2 separate bracelets. Here they both are, the 1479/812 that it came on, to the side (this the same as yours?) And it's currently on an 1171/633 (with the crazy novalink system) which I stuck it on for a more vintage vibe
