So I bought this French cased Chronometre in pink gold, the only problem is the replacement seconds hand. I've been trying to find a needle hand in pink gold or preferably a blued steel one. My watchmaker has told me to try to find one based on the case number, the problem is the French cased ones don't have a reference number inside the case back like the Swiss cased ones. My hunch is that these cases were modelled on and pretty identical to Seamaster screw back cases of the same period, housing bumper movements. The case references that I've been looking at are 2577 in steel and 2520 which is in gold. Googling hasn't turned up much at all, does anybody have any suggestions of where I can find an elusive seconds hand?
Measure the seconds hand length you need and find that hand for a 352/354 movement in the correct length in blue (or even one slightly longer and have it trimmed) at ofrei.com or cousins in the UK. Call them if need be.
This is available at julesborel.com - at 10mm I believe it is the correct length, color (blue) and it is a fit for the movement (352/354). HAN/500 is the same hand, same length and in rose gold but is listed as unavailable at julesborel.com HAN/499 HAND, BLUE SWEEP SECOND 10.MM
Thanks for the tips! I'll get it measured precisely next time I see my Watchmaker and take it from there. Chris
