How’s it going all?

Was having a discussion about colored date wheels with a few friends and naturally we began discussing the roulette date wheel. I was under the impression they first popped up during WW2 to indicate which days you were supposed to ration. However someone stated that the earlier roulette wheels showed up from Rolex at the end of the war.

Does anyone have any resources about the history of this style date wheel? I tried a search and only found hundreds of fabulous watches with it
