Yes, have one in the collection. I am linking to a nice article on this watches and among other things it is one of the earliest watches to come from the factory with a sapphire crystal.

Oh really? I figured it would be mineral crystal at most, is it really synthetic sapphire all the way back then?

Yep, synthetic sapphire was made in the early 1900's - first used in place of jewels in the movement, the crystals starting around 1930.

Globemaster more physically attractive but the marine in all its forms much more historically important.
