I have just listed some of my No 6 end pieces and have already been asked a question regarding authenticity.

I have seen the fake ones before with the oversized "6" where are they coming from? and what happens when they get the size and font of the no 6 correct?
End links must be pretty easy to reproduce if you have the right tools so I guess it is lucky the fakers have not got everything right just yet.
Are they coming from the UK or elsewhere?
    Thanks Michael

I was under the impression that the seller had deliberately oversized the '6' to stop them being passed off as fake.

Doesn't he list them as repro?

So this is why I think end-links should be a non-issue really. End-links seem relative easy to make (relative to other watch and bracelet components that is), including getting them dead-on balls accurate to the originals. If and when that level of match is achieved, why should we care if they are original or repro, if they are essentially identical? I see end-links being on the tiniest bit more important than springbars.

I bought these from eBay from Argentina. I am confident they are genuine as they look old and I paid $1500. for the set. I don't have the bracelet yet but you want to be prepared. Detail is what makes the piece.

Here you go: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-REPLA...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

I have seen several auction result for the genuine ones at USD 1500 for the pair, which is quite hysterical IMO. These aftermarket, that may be good enough for many of us, sold at GBP 85 for the pair, maybe can contribute to that the demand for the genuine ones is taken down to more reasonable levels

Wouldn't legit ones go up if many decide 'aftermarket' ones are 'good enough'?

I think I'd prefer that outcome.

These are too crudely made, not as refined as the ones @gemini4 bought from the Far East for about $120, that I believe originated from Hong Kong (still not exactly the same as genuine ones of course).

Yes those are the ones I was referring to. Seeing as michael referred to the oversized 6, I presumed he meant these.

@michael e , are these the ones you are referring to, and is someone trying to pass them off as original or we talking about different ones?

I have looked at the links above, I think the end pieces are a good stop gap for anyone either unable to find end pieces, don't want to pay a high amount for them or do not regard them highly toward the components of the bracelet like mentioned above.
The Jap ones look the closest of course, the UK ones look good enough on too and I am happy that the number 6 is obviously and way too big, I think they will get it spot on in the future, all it takes is a little extra work and the correct size/font for that #6.

I might start leaving the gunk on that gathers inside these end pieces just to add to authenticity in the future or I might get some manufactured myself with the correct 6 and fake gunk

The PAF ones above are perfect of course :)

    Cheers Michael

No, these are not the ones I had seen in the past for sale, the ones I had seen were out of Italy a couple of years ago and were not as good. I have been offered them in the UK too but not from the same source.
    Thanks Michael
