On my wrist...when I'm in pilfering mode...followed by the wife unit (MacGyverette) going into beat down mode...



The MacGyverette beat down mode 'look'...MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY...

 

I get that look all the time.

 

Right now this one is where it got tossed last night while we finished a good bottle of wine, and half of a not so good one, and binged on season 3 of peaky blinders.

 

Sometimes on the wrist of a Navy Seal during
2 tours in 'Nam, in jungles and banging off submarines
or picking up Apollo 4 re-entry nose cone....

 

Ok. No one can beat that so time to close the thread......

Here's what the Seal wrote me in an email when
I found the picture online of the Apollo recovery.

Check out " Apollo 4 capsule location " on line and it should give you a link that gives you all the flight info.. It was the 1st Saturn 5 rocket to be used and it was never tested.. The list goes on of firsts and onlys from the flight.. An experience of a lifetime, and I'm glad to have gotten to do it.. No price for my seat at that show.. .

That's me .. I rode that boat for at least 3 hours until they picked up the nose cone.. . You did really good .. I also rode the capsule for a couple of hours also before the day was over.. .. Totally cool ..

Seriously. That is one the best stories I have ever heard of a watch owner...period.

But he wasn't the model wife of a race car driver, so Hodonkey won't see much value in it

Hi John , No problem about any questions .. It is fun.. IN 1967 I
completed BUDS Training-- back then it was called UDTRA and a class #
.. My class was class 40 , and I graduated on May 5, 1967 .. When we
became " FROGMEN " we were issued a Tudor watch in a Rolex case ..
Because of ' some reason' we were issued timexs with a small white
bezzell.. Not what I had in mind , so I went to our little "ship store"
in the SEAL Team Diving Department and got my own watch.. .. This very
watch.. . It was always a "shield " and a 'power source' for me.. In Dec. 69 on a Destroyer
Escort heading back , I got word I was to get out of the Navy-an
exceptionally happy day- Jan. 5 , 1970 which was in 15 days.. I was
in the makeshift dive locker and a small engraver was in front of me on
the bench .. I freehand engraved my name and DEC. 1969 and
SEAL TEAM ONE and UDT on the back to remind me of that happy day.. )
