When were blue dials made available on 50s-60s Seamasters?

I've been offered a 1964ish (still waiting for a picture of the movement) Seamaster with a dark blue dial that the seller claims is original. While I have no reason to doubt him, I'm not really aware of Seamasters from this decade that came with colored dials except for the plethora of redials readily available on Chron24 and eBay. Can the group please let me know when blue or colored dials began to be made available on the 50s-60s Seamasters? Thanks!

Best to share a photo and we can tell you if it’s legit.

There were zero 50s Seamasters with blue dials. There may have been some in the 60s, such as some Cosmics, but I’d say there are more redialed blue dials out there than legitimate ones.

^^ a pic always helps. The only blue dial I can think of is the Seamaster 60 and that’s waaay late 60’s/early 70’s

Although I remember seeing a SM120 with blue dial and bezel not long ago, but again- late 60’s.

Here's some of the pictures the seller provided. Claims that the watch is all-original from the "first or second run", whatever that means, lol. Didn't the hooked S stopped being used in 1963? Thanks guys!

This is bad. Apart from the redial, the hands do not look right to me. Caseback also seems overpolished.

Thanks everyone for confirming my suspicions and saving me from a costly mistake! Gotta be more patient! 😀

Yes, you dodged a bullet there! I haven’t seen any late 1960s Seamasters with blue dials, but the MkI Dynamic in my avatar pic is a genuine deep blue dial from 1968. If you want blue and vintage, you could do a lot worse…

My Seamaster Cosmic 2000 dates from 1973 and has a blue dial that gets lighter towards the centre - very 70s…

Good luck in your hunt!

There were some 552 and 601 powered Geneves from the late 60’s that were really nice.

I believe these are the first of the blue dials (as demonstrated by the fact the paint wasn’t particularly stable and tends to degrade around the lume).

Here’s one I regretfully sold a few years ago.

Thats a very nice watch, I can see why you regret it, really seen in blue

This one I had, never came across another. Sold to a family member so at least I still get to see it...

I asked about this some time ago but received no reply so I am glad this thread has cleared this up. A bit of a shame as I do happen to think the blue colour does look good on the watch. I am a fan of blue dial watches anyway.

Oh look the Korean redials are still out there. Google “vividlilly”

the grey sunburst aka soliel dials are late 60’s normally.
