When was chocolate dial sapphire sandwich speedmaster first produced? Is it still in current production? Thanks.
I've seen the "tropical brown" dial Speedys for sale from the late-1960's into the '70s, and of course Omega is making a brown dial Speedmaster Pro right now. I don't know about the intervening years. Interestingly, the brown dial resulted from the fading of a black dial due to a manufacturing flaw. http://www.ablogtowatch.com/omega-speedmaster-tropical-brown-dial-vintage-watch-explained/
That's not what he is talking about. He is referring to the 311.32.42.30.13.001 its no longer in production. I don't know the date range however.
Yeah, I realized that after I posted. I didn't answer the question - I just added some ancillary information. My bad,
If you are looking to buy a new one, there is one in the London Regents Street Omega Boutique... spotted it yesterday.
Do you mean one like mine? If so the it was Available as Gauvain says. There are a couple still available new if you have a dig around.
Yes - 2007 to 2013 - Watchbase.com confirms this http://watchbase.com/omega/speedmaster/311-30-42-30-13-001
2007 seems very early to me. I bought my chocolate moonwatch in 2013, its a 2012 watch and I'm sure these were not available for 5 years before I bought mine.
I'm 99% sure that's incorrect - from memory 2010 was the first year. To answer the OP question, it's not been in production for a long time (2 years+)
In case the OP is interested, there is a chocolate Speedy for sale on the Rolex Forums: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=518178 It's been on the market for a while and the seller looks willing to entertain offers. Asking price is $3650.
People were discussing the new brown dial speedmaster just becoming available at AD's on WUS in August 2007.
Anyone else feeling trolled by the guy that didn't go look for himself, asked us to go look for him, and then never came back?
