I've been watching this 105-002 on ebay and can't decide if the appearance of the nuked dial is pleasing or whether I just feel I want to rescue it like a starved and abused puppy or donkey.
Well I guess the beauty lies in the eye of the buyer. I don’t find it very appealing anymore. Others might feel differently about it...
Sorry. It's a 2998-62 and the thread posted before I had completed. Here is the listing. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUTHENTI...rentrq:8ca08f381620ab6b34990a41ffff3c10|iid:1Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
When it comes to the choice between patina and degradation, it's entirely subjective. Personally, I think every "spider dial" is damaged. In this case, however, it's been baked - look at the way the lume has blackened.
I would buy that watch for the right price (I don't have 17k right now, and if I did I wouldn't buy it). But here are examples of some of the watches I have owned and many would consider 'trashed'. Personally I enjoyed owning all of them, regardless of the dial condition. That being said, I feel calling the above Speedmaster tropical is pissing on my boots and telling me it is raining.
