Okay vintage collectors, assuming you one of those brave souls who (like me) actually wear your vintage pieces, do you remove them at the slightest hint of danger? Do you take them off when at the computer to avoid "desk diving" scuffs? Do you carry a watch pouch or just keep it in your pocket. Do you wear a beater when travelling? Do you ever wear them in the water (assuming it is a waterproof model and has recently passed a pressure test)?
I leave mine on during sex. Helps with the orgasm Any kind of yard work / car work / etc, I put on the GShock or Suunto. Water sports is a newer dive watch.
When they pry it from my cold, dead hands. Oops, wrong thread.... https://omegaforums.net/threads/so-any-of-our-members-here-have-an-interest-in-firearms.491/
I wear them whenever I can (even during sex!), but I try not to forget to remove for rain (or even humid environs), jacuzzi visits, MardiGra celebrations and such... but for sports, it's a modern beater... Sometimes I'll sleep with one on, but not if it has a radium dial (too dangerous during thumb-sucking)...
For the most part, mine are gold three handers. They go on before I head out for the office in the morning and get taken off once I get home. I almost never bring them on trips (shame, I know) unless it's business related. For everything else, it's either my SKX or my Aquaracer.
1. Doing dishes 2. Going to a wedding or party where there is alcohol, a good DJ, and higher than average humidity.
Anything that involves water, moving furniture or yard work. I don't currently have any modern watches in my rotation, but the same rules would apply. The general exception is one vintage Seiko diver that I've replace the gaskets in and had pressure tested. It's my exercise/swimming beater.
i usually through on my PO before bed to avoid scuffing the plexi while sleeping That aside, I wear them constantly.
I take all my watches off when I sleep (unless it's a powernap), and vintage come off around moisture. Dishes, pools, lakes, rivers, showers, rain etc. modern will stay on if they have a screw down crown and the strap won't get ruined.
i don't sleep with a watch...but not because its vintage. The only other time I remove my watch is when working in the yard.
See, now I leave my Speedmaster on during sex, and use the chrono function to measure performance. It usually doesn't make it past the first marking on the 3:00 subdial. What is that, like an hour?
Hmmm... * anywhere near water * painting * cooking * sandpit with kids I have fallen asleep with a stopwatch in my pocket...and scrambled to check whether the glass had broken when I was moving around sleeping when I woke up!
Where there's anything to do with water or steam or power tools...mostly..... However, I made a point of changing my watch over to my garden beater Titoni airmaster before emptying the inflatable pool for Summers end last Friday morning..a brief and minor accident (plunge) ensued, and now it's opened up and sitting on my workbench. I'm willing it to run again but I do fear the worst....Perhaps it's time for a bit of amateur open heart surgery. It sure isn't worth the expense of a revision.... Lesson learned.
She whispered in my ear "Darling, can you take off your ring?". I said, "Sweetheart, I don't wear a ring. That's my watch".
