..would you have a better chance of not scratching the back of the lugs, using A, or B?

I have both and find that B works best for me. More precise, less chance of damage to the lugs and the strap.

I use A when I can’t see what’s going on in there, usually caused by a tight fitting strap.

And I don’t really care if I scratch my own watches, but if helping someone else then I choose carefully, and use B mostly.

I use B. Still try to be as carefull and slow as possible. And if I take care of someone's watch I would always put some paper tape on lugs.

I use A. But I realize I should have and use B too.

I've only used B and found A to be mostly useless. ;-)

When one changes the strap from the rear of the watch, I don't see how there is much risk of scratching anything . . . other than possibly the inside of the lug.

A for removing the lug and strap
B for inserting lug and strap.

Edit: I have also struggled using “A.” The end seems too thick to squeeze into a tight fit between strap end and lug, without really deforming the leather. But perhaps my technique is flawed.

I use blue painters tape on the rear or the lugs.

I was wondering what was better: this, clear tape, or duct tape.

Masking tape does not leave glue residues like duct tape

    A is for straps.

    B is for bracelets.
