just a bit of fun really, but what watch related thing would you send to Room 101 never to be seen again? To kick things. Off, I would put crappy 2nd hand watches advertised on a little piece of Sheepskin! I am sick to death of seeing them on Ebay! Page after page after page.....Aarghhhhh. Feel better already.

That charlatan who wanted to butcher the Speedy and got banned from here for a second time - a feat unparalled in the history of this forum.

it's a fictitious room where you can send your pet hates banishing them from the world forever. Basically things that annoy you and drive you mad. Like the fluffy sheepskin cushions I refer to above on eBay!

Any seller who claims "original dial" when it's been repainted.

Any seller who uses the word "minty". Toothpaste is minty; watches are not.

Any seller who describes every old watch as "art deco".

...... come to think of it, my room 101 is more like a penitentiary than a room. And like modern prisons, it would be overcrowded. :D

I bought an IWC off a seller who does the sheepskin thing. ;) It's definitely NOT crappy.

Maybe that's where I'm going wrong, if there was one in there at £10 I would scroll right past! This is the typical quality of what I mean.

Room 101 is a torture chamber, within the bowels of 'The Ministry Of Love'

It comes from the book, '1984' written in 1948, by George Orwell

The very first Apple Macintosh TV commercial, ( Super Bowl '84 ), was based on it.

Incidentally, whilst being written 67 years ago, it makes the first ever reference , to 'flat screen televisions' being hung from walls, & contains also the 'second best' opening line in literature

"It was a bright day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen "

I realize this may be contentious because so many people here do it, so please understand I don't really judge anyone for if, but....:

People who say "the bay" instead of ebay. ebay is a 20 year old web site on which the first item sold was a broken laser pointer. The first hit on Google for "the bay" is a Canadian department store. Did you actually buy your watch there? If so, you are exempt!

    How about:

“It was a queer, sultry summer, the summer they electrocuted the Rosenbergs, and I didn’t know what I was doing in New York.”

    :D

Ebay sellers who only clutter things by trying to sell Tissots in the Omega section, Tudors in the Rolex section, and Wittnauers in the Longines section.
