That mini heart attack when you at first glance think that you lost your watch because of a broken spring bar or something like that.

I feel the pain. Happened to me a couple times and throughout the day I glance at my wrist to check on the time and am reminded....until I make it home and put one on!

I keep my spare in the glovebox. The trunk doesn't seem like a good place to keep a vintage watch.

Actually, in sealed secure trunk compartment , it is much safer than a glove compartment.

I don't have a car fancy enough to have a sealed and secure trunk compartment, that sounds like the way James Bond would stash his extra spy watches. Now I feel inadequate.

In my early days I worked for the govt in a top secret facility. Our dress was very defined, including tie and jacket and a watch specifically. You could be sent home for not having a watch on, unless you kept a spare somewhere. You see, cell phones were not allowed and the timing of certain events was precisely prescribed, so a watch was necessary. Due to security protocols, You DID NOT do anything at the wrong time, particularly meetings. A minute late and you were cast out and told to wait in your office. It took a long time to get over that programming, so sometimes I look at my wrist, see I forgot it, feel a pang of panic and then just as quickly, a sigh of relief as that world is far behind me.

Sometimes I feel a panic when I hear, "backup to register 5" in Walmart. I'm sure @Mad Dog has similar moments.

Tough day. It's really disappointing during a workday to look 123 times at a naked wrist...
