    Hello Omegoids,
I've been Jonesing for a Seamaster 30 for some time now. This appears to be a 1961 cal.285 Seamaster 30 with untouched and original black textured dial. Crown not original. Bracelet possibly might be but clasp isn't, movement recently serviced. W 30.1.jpg 30.2.jpg 30.3.jpg 30.4.jpg 30.5.jpg 30.6.jpg What do we think?

DIal looks correct. Not so sure about the hands - didn't these come with stick hands?

Case isn't great either. How much are they asking? I sold one in similar shape a while ago for about £280.

From the pics the dial looks original, but in poor shape. It it is cheap and you like it, go ahead.

It's about half the price of what premium ones go for (600 US?)...the fact it comes freshly serviced is the deciding factor.. this is also priced at around 280 UKP..I thought the linen dial was actually relatively ok. I think being black its become quite sun faded....Only a small outlay, will buy. If I don't like it I'll probably get around what I paid for it.

Dial looks ok to me from these pics. For an original black dial at that price I don't see how you can go wrong.

I'm pretty sure the bracelet isn't original.

Is it definitely stainless steel? It looks like it has remnants of gold cap in some pics but I assume that's the lighting?

For that price I'd go ahead if you like it. You'll almost certainly get that back if you decide it's not for you.

I looks like it is the grey linen/texture dial. The hands are wrong.

That steel certainly does look a lot like chromed base metal... And it may just be my failing eyesight, but isn't the shape of the bezel wrong? Looking at @tdn-dk's examples, I'd say that the top of the bezel in the OP is far more flat than those... There is also a noticeable gap between bezel and crystal.

Kept zooming in on the pics and I don't see an Omega logo at all. If that's so then the crystal is not Omega genuine. That means that it's possible that the bezel might not be genuine as well but I don't know so I'll let others decide.

It certainly doesn't look like the ones from the photos provided by other members. I can also see some sort of metal flaking as if it's brass base metal as ConElPueblo has stated, which would be dubious.

From the movement pictures it looks as if the parts have slightly different hues which could mean that it's a franken but it could be just the lighting of the picture. Would be nice to ask for another picture from a different angle.

Agree on the bezel, also it looks like plated brass because there is clearly some wear.

Well it is not a Seamaster 30, but "Just" a Seamaster ref. 14390 i see now https://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-details/14533/ The dial is not original to the watch. Not sure about the bezel, is does not have the correct shape IMHO maybe the bezel was missing at some point an some took from another watch, maybe a cromed one. It seems to be a frankenwatch avoid it.

Well it arrived about 5 minutes ago! The case is SS it's just the light from the brass batons kind of throw a brownish tinge to the case edge from certain angles. The bracelet as we thought isn't original, well at least the clasp isn't..but I've a a junker coming later this week that I bought because of the original BOR bracelet :). ...The linen dial is somewhere between brown and grey and while it may not be original to the rest of the watch, it really is very pretty....the biggest surprise of all...it wears really big
It's not so much a Franken, more of a Vampira and I think despite the dangers, I've fallen under the spell of her sexy curves..... VALERIA6.jpg

Well, seems like there is one for everyone out there :)

Looking forward to you posting better photos of the case, esp. of the bezel...

Well.. Vampira and me... well we've all fallen in love against our better judgement and the consequent disapproval from the family!!! I've changed out the bracelet for an original one and given her a wee buff and polish. She may have had the watch equivalent of a boob job, and may not be perfectly original, but I'm pretty certain we'll get along just fine..I like her lines... Now she'll just have to join the watch harem and work her way into the hierarchy!! Forgive this poor sinner ye puritanical omegoids...the flesh is weak!!
