If you don't have time to do it right the first time, you probably won't have time to return and do it right later... also, not everything needs to be perfect.

It's not how much you make.......it's how much you keep.

(apologies if a repeat, I'm not reading 8 pages of this sober)

Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

Don’t drink that
Yeah, heard that one too... But it often was ended by "much"...

I must admit I didn't really listen to it in my early days 😀

Quality is enjoyed long after the price has been forgotten.
But rubbish reminds you that no matter how low the price was you paid, it was way too much for what you got and you should have bought better, every single time you try and use it.

Trying to explain things to an idiot, is a bit like reading Shakespeare to a dog!
He knows your taking to him, he'll prick his ears and may wag his tail to show he enjoys the attention, but sooner or later he will loose interest and go to something he really understands.........like licking his balls!

I frequently return to this quote:

"He compared his situation to that of Voltaire's Candid, who, after enduring a litany of absurd horrors in a society plagued by fanaticism and incompetence, concludes that the only worthwhile activity is tending his garden."

2 things that have stuck and I live by:
1. when contemplating any decision, the thing that matters first, is your internal state.
2. Don't let your meatloaf.

Stretch yourself a little when you buy a house. You may have to economize for a couple years, but it will pay off over time. (and it has)

Augo du bruke
fyrr inn du gjeng,
i kot og i kråom,
i kot og i krokom.
For d'er uvist å vita
kvar uvener sit
fyre din fot.

Håvamål verse 1 (Odins Speech).

Use your eys
befor you enter
rooms and corners
rooms and corners.
Because its hard to know
where enemys sit
before your foot.

Betre byrdi
du ber 'kje i bakken
enn mannavit mykje.
Med låkare niste
du legg 'kje i veg
enn ovdrykkje med øl.

Verse 11.

A better load
you carry uphill
than wisdom of man.
With poorer provisions
you start
than drunk with beer.

Or something like that.

Speak when you are angry, and you will make the best speech you will for ever regret…

If you think you’re the smartest guy in the room, you will need to find a new room…

Unfortunately being highly qualified, experienced and as a result of that expertise, better paid than all the others present in the room, I have to spend way to much time seeking new rooms, as all the one's I have to go into at work, always seem to contain an assortment of middle management imbeciles, various OH&S time wasters, parsimonious bean counters, efficiency experts, HR bullies, QA deadshits, workplace psychopaths, and assorted office know all/know nothing numpties, all of which are constantly telling me how to do my job which none of them are in any way even close to being qualified to do!

Which bring us back full circle to my earlier post about comparing arguing with idiots to being like trying to read Shakespeare to a dog!
