·So I think you're mixing apples and oranges. Hermes and Patek Phillipe are not mass-produced products because they require skilled craftsmen to produce. They're essentially handmade. That doesn't scale. Mass-produced products like Swatch, Rolex, and Apple iPhones are. Rolex and iPhones are both occupy the premium end of their category. They have more things in common than you realize.
iPhones have to constantly be updated with new tech and features. A NOS 5 year old iPhone is essentially worthless. Rolex could do nothing in terms of upgrades for their watches for the next 20 years and still sell.
Regarding Patek and Hermes, they could easily produce a lot more Nautliuses and Birkin bags but deliberately choose not to. They have the craftsmen to do it but don't want to oversaturate their most popular product.

Despite the fact that I don't always agree with the moderation decisions here, I very much doubt that the reason your posts were removed was simply because they were critical of a watch. There are plenty of posts still up that are critical of the watch...

·The only posts of his that were removed by me were in the MoonSwatch photos thread where he kept posting garbage to derail and ruin the thread for other people which was less a matter of being critical, and more a case of just being deeply spiteful

2. Let people enjoy it. I honestly like these moonswatches less and less now that the dust has settled. But it's much easier to allow others to enjoy something then to piss in everyone's Cheerios. If you don't like it, simply move on to the next topic, your precious Speedys and all their prestige are safe.

The few hype resellers I know, which I assume are an ok sample, are well aware of these watches and the premiums they’re selling for. The MoonSwatch are for the last many days the “banner product” on the landing page of StockX (scroll up if you want to see screengrabs of the banner and current pricing), the online sales platform of choice for single-item hype products/resellers.
Different D2C websites like Swatch’s use a back-end CRM sales platform provider - in Swatch’s case, it’s salesforce. And resellers do point stock monitors and bots at salesforce all the time for other brand’s online releases.
So how it will likely go: depending on how much stock is loaded on the backend of the website, the stock monitors might throttle how much interest the resellers have in executing purchases. If a million units load on the back end, botters who catch that may decide to attempt fewer purchases, whereas if only 2000 units load bottters will attempt all the purchases.
You and I as a thumb-buyers will initially have success purchasing inverse to the botters’ interests in executing purchases.
After that, further iterations of the same dynamics as the market allows!
I’m hoping Swatch release a lot, repetitively, so that either I can snag one online or the StockX price+fees comes to some tolerable premium.

To be honest? I don't care. This is a hobby for me, I collect Seamasters because the stupid things make happy.
Whether or not Swiss watch execs are tone deaf is very low on my priority list of things to get riled up about. But that's just me.

Mine comes from years of being a gov environmental scientist (seems like a previous life now though) trying to do anything on that front is like pissing on a major bush fire.

Seems ironic in a troubling way that this is your reaction, as clearly both Swatch and Omega intend this to be an environmentally-conscious alternative to the millions of *actual* (petrochemical) plastic watches that are made by Swatch.
On second thought, seems sort of strange to condemn Swatch for making “bioceramic” MoonSwatch in particular, when meanwhile for decades Swatch has done nothing but make (petrochem) plastic watches?
Based on your expertise as an environmental scientist, there something about “bioceramic” that is worse than the typical plastics they’ve produced for decades?
