But what about the OF?!! How're we doing? Surely OF hits are up?

If we hit 1 million members can we finally get that LE OF watch? Make it a Swatch x OF and we'll clean up. Only available on the forum after you have 200 posts.

Let's raise the bar a bit. How about after 1,700 posts. 👍

I didn't know we had a grey market forum.

Omega’s search traffic is still trending many times higher than normal and more than double Rolex’s 5 days later, normal product releases never have this much impact.
Unfortunately down the track it’ll have a big impact on Speedmaster/Omega status and not in a good way 🙁

How so….I don’t know why you think it is anything but good publicity.

Its a Swatch bought at Swatch made by Swatch advertising a upmarket brand Omega. Years of marketing for one of the biggest companies in the world (many years ago) I see it as a winner.
Every YouTube video that talks about it references the Omega Speedmaster. People are googling Speedmasters 👍 How is that not good.

Swatch gains big time now with the publicity Omega gains big time in the future. If you can’t see this you must be missing something (or I may be …?)

Omega’s iconic Moonwatch is now associated with a cheap plastic watch…no one can undo that going forward.

Wrong, a cheap plastic watch is associated with a iconic expensive Omega Speedmaster. Two totally different things.

Two years from now you will not see a Swatch MoonSwatch as they will be toast. And the masses will be camped out buying the Swatch latest Star Wars watch with light sabre hands

@dsio will probably shock you with the spike in membership here.

Watch folk that own Speedmasters want one…..explain that…

I’m sorry, but I don’t think my moonwatch heard your shame.

What this did was make my wife interested in a watch she considered utterly boring before (and yes, she has worn mine several times- she prefers my sunburst blue Navitimer because it’s stunning). And I’m sure about another 100k+ people agree with her.

Hey remember when the Omega Speedmaster used to be sold in throw-out bins at the discount supermarket chain Costco next to the bulk sacks of dog food?

The number of people that owned a handful of modern Omegas pearl clutching over that was incredible saying their watch was now worthless. Good thing Speedmaster values tanked after 2009 and you can buy them for nothing these days.

Omega jumped the shark by agreeing to bail out their parent company and putting their logo front/center on a cheap plastic watch.

Once again, try PMing a dealer asking for a 10% “MoonSwatch brand value damage” discount on a Tintin and see how you go. You literally have zero knowledge or understanding, and are just talking nonsense.

I am seeing a much larger social implication here that I am loving. How does omega compete with a Juggernaut like Rolex…you don’t. Give it away- pull back the curtain, let them all eat cake. Put out a $260 watch and say suck it!
Looking at new Rolex rollouts this week- I laughed- my god do they look completely disconnected from the world, hawking the same old shit with a tweak here or there- just sad really, how long are they gonna beat that poor Oyster to death!

Do something Bold Rolex! Do something crazy, do something…for everyone! Otherwise, you are last years news.

If you have any Speedy Pro's, I'll happy buy one off you at diminished MoonSwatch value.

100% disagree. Sure it’s 100% excellent advertisement for Swatch and certainly even for a sort term sales spike in Omega.
However Speedmaster as a aspirational status symbol which in the past was 90% of its sales well that’s loosing appeal.
The more hype this plastic gets the worse it gets for Speedmaster, as someone else just commented now the Speedmaster is associated with a cheap plastic watch…..now that is hard to undo.
You can’t just blankly say as a reply I don’t know what I’m taking about, I live eat and breathe investing in companies, capital raising for companies…..this is almost textbook like what a company does to increase its balance sheet for a big holder to offload.

Again it’s great for the swatch group but bad for Speedmasters status symbol as an aspirational piece.

You’re very short term here. I’d even back a short term interest/and price increases in collectable Speedmasters.
I agree with the poster certainly the parent group has sacrificed Omega’s reputation for its own balance sheet gain.
From its perspective why not? Speedmaster itself is hardly the groups biggest revenue.

Ok, select a timeframe and we'll circle back on it to demonstrate how mistaken you are at that point, happy to do that.

Look I respect your opinion, even completely understand where you coming from, so atleast respect mine and don’t be so blinkered.
Your emotional because your Omega fan, and I am emotional for the same reason, we just believe in two totally different outcomes.
I certainly not alone in believing this has done serious damage to the Speedmaster’s status, just that alone shows this opinion can be had.

Certainly my opinion may not be popular in this thread (reality rarely is hence how I got wealthy from trading, honest assessment of reality). Lack of popularity here won’t make my points any less valid.
