Newbie here. Since i just got a 145.022-69 for myself, i figure i should look for something for the wifie as well.
she will probably want something automatic, so maybe something modern. do want to stay within the speedmaster line to match mine. mabye something 39-40mm?

i've been looking at the moon reduced. is it a decent watch?

Many threads about them on OF. General feeling is a bit negative, movement is hard and expensive to service. But I like them! I gave one to my GF. And she likes it too...

 

aside from the reduced, is there other that are in the 39-40mm?

 

Does she anticipate participating in any spacewalks?

 

... or cooking an egg in zero gravity condition in a space station ?

 

I personally wouldn't get her a speedy. Maybe try the constellation series?

Perfect size, master chronometer movement and looks timeless.

You could try the FOIS too, but it's a manual wind at 38-39mm so not the most modern movement. Looks lovely however.

The reduced is cheap for a reason. Many aren't serviced and as said they are expensive to service. I wouldn't go with them personally.

 

not sure why it has to be an omega. . .my wife has a UG polerouter date, a heuer Seafarer 2447, a little lange 1 moonphase. . the key is finding something SHE actually likes even if she doesn't fully appreciate the horological content

one of my all time favorite watches (and possibly my wife's favorite) is this cartier monopoussoir. . she loves the looks. . i love the fact that it was designed by F.P. Journe himself

it doesn't but i like having her watch matching mine.

 

I know it isn't a Speedy Pro, and I might be in the minority, but I really like a lot of the watches in the Speedmaster 38 Collection. Here is one that I picked out if my wife ever expresses interest sharing my passion. Until then I will just keep playing it safe with diamonds haha.

I did the same thing with my wife a while back and when I bought her the Rolex she said "oh I was just being nice" Ooops!

 

OMEGA FOIS, probably the best choice (39,7mm)

My wife loves her Speedmaster ... it's undoubtedly her favorite watch.

 

The Mark 40 wears small IMO, but may be a bit too thick.
Large watches on women seem to be trendy at the moment, so just get a FOIS on a nice leather bracelet....

 

i think i will look in into the FOIS. really trying to stay with the similar look as my 145.022-69, and she seems to like the more "sporty" look as well, since she already has 2 rolex date adjust, both smaller for women, i am trying to get her something that is a little larger for her, but not too large.

How serious is the relationship? You might want to consider a fake Rolex.
