I stopped in at the local AD today, just for fun and I saw a used Speedmaster. This is rare. I never, and I mean never see any used Omegas in my area. The salesman said that it was basically brand new, that it was a return and they could not sell it as new anymore. They had to sell it as used. New price is $4400. The price for this used one is $2860. Is this a good price?
I'm located in Central Ohio. So the price is a typical price for a watch less than a year old. Not a great deal then?
For an AD at that price for a one year old watch that is a good price. For a private seller that is around what you would find on the net.
Thanks. That's exactly what I needed to know. I am no expert on Speedmasters, there are so many edition/versions I have a hard time keeping things straight.
Why was it returned? Does it have a 2 year warranty? was it a faulty watch returned for repair? Questions you need to ask the dealer.
I went back and was told that it actually had 'case wear', so it was being sold without box and papers, no Omega warranty, but a one year warranty from the AD. I'm thinking i could get a better deal else where.
Yeah this doesn't add up. If it was really just a simple return they'd honour the full warranty and provide box and papers.
If watch only no thanks. So weird the AD would not offer box and papers. That just sounds all wrong for some "case wear"
Without box, papers, or legit full AD warranty that is a high price. You can easily find one in the same or better condition with the exact same features and the same amount left on the warranty for $2600 or even less, and that's without accounting for sales tax. Take a pass, or if that's your price range do some comparison shopping. I'm sure if you PM some members here they can recommend you other AD's who can get you a new piece for around that price.
