Hi All. I will like to ask for opinion on price for one of this. I am actually waiting for one in a more pristine condition than this one and not actually bidding for this. Will like to consult you guys what do you think will be a reasonable price for a piece in this condition. I am thinking 350? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Zone-dial-O...886179650?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item2575904742Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network And what should i expect to pay for a similar piece in a pristine condition with a nice case and a mint dial? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and I apologize if I am taking too much virtual space.
Don't worry about me. Not actually thinking about bidding for it. Just thought I should ask and and keep a reference if one in good condition eventually shows up. The condition of the movement looks good but not too sure about the dial and case.
Actually, $350 is not a bad price for that watch in its current condition. I'd like $300 better, but who wouldn't? If it were pristine, I'd say double it. I took a look at the seller's website and he has quite an impressive collection. Several very nice Longines for you, Dennis. http://www.marturx.com/Default.aspx I think this is one of his "doubles", as he has a couple of other bullseye Omegas in nicer condition. Seller is from Sweden and this style was very popular there in the 1940's and '50's. Take care, gatorcpa
Thanks Gator. I'd go for this had the dial been in a better condition. Seems there is some light spotting of the dial. The humidity level where I am ranges between 60% to 80%. Do you think the dial will further deteriorate. This is my concern. Thanks again.
I agree, not bad at all for an opening bid. Hey now, I'm no fanboy. Longines Junkie might be more accurate. However, if you must change my title from the Vintage Omega Oracle (which I kinda liked) please make it Mystic High Ruler again.
I'd mail you some as thanks for the quick switch on my avatar message, but Customs might have something to say about declaring prepared food.
I asked for that title, but Ashley's response was that I could have more hair then you, but not both. So big congratulations on the new job
Keep all the hair you want. I prefer my low maintenance style. And I've been known as Mystic High Ruler for at least a decade now.
I can sort of picture Windy shouting up the staircase "Mystic High Ruler, you forgot to put the cold groceries in the fridge again, now the steak's at room temperature!"
The seller has a good track record on ebay selling manual wind omegas. His watches are typically in as found condition, have original dials (some aged more than others) and have cases that he did not polish - usually carefully washed with soap and water. Overall an honest upfront seller who typically gets reasonably good prices for his watches.
Maybe yes, maybe no. From the pattern of the spots, it looks like there was some moisture instrusion at one point, but can't be sure without a close-up inspection of the dial. Then again, it could be from the radium on the dial. It could be a bit of both, as the radium salts they used back then were likely water soluble. FWIW, I live in a place with even higher humidity for most of the year. I haven't seen much change in the condition of dials on the watches in my collection, radium or not, over the years. I would recommend that you get some silica gel satchels on eBay or at a hobby supply store and keep them in your watch box(es) or safe. http://silicagelpackets.co.uk/silica-gel-packets/silica-gel-plastic-canisters-cylinders-1/ Hope this helps, gatorcpa
