Started with quartz watches as fashion accessories, including a Wittnauer that was a Breguet ringer / knock-off. My uncle would take me antiquing and I took an interest in clocks & watches, so he gave me my grandfather's Bulova. That started my mechanical watch quest, with similar brands (Benrus, Hamilton, etc.) and eventually horse traded up the ladder through Longines, Omega, and some Rolex to vintage AP, JLC, Piaget, and VC. Sold most everything because it morphed from a hobby into a part time job, and now I'm semi-starting over using what I learned to find a small but perfect stable of watches, some of which I already own, some that will be bought to replace silly mistakes of selling off the first specimen I owned, and maybe one or two others that I've always wanted.
Somewhere in the Benrus/Bulova stage, I found watch forums on the internet. TimeZone, then WatchuSeek, then Watch Talk Forums, and a whole plethora of other brief stops, where I sometimes still make cameo appearances - even sometimes under my real screen name of ulackfocus!
