What do we think of this Speedmaster? I am a huge Speedmaster novice (only owning the modern FOIS), but I assume this is a collection of parts? It has straight lugs, which have been polished extensively, and I believe an older caseback, with a DON bezel. But modern hands and dial. No pictures of what is inside.

The good news? Bidding starts at 500 euro

More than the lugs, the dial is not correct. Proper dial for this watch is probably in the $5k range for a nice one. For a good price (VAP), and for someone with a spare dial, it could be a good pickup, but if this is your first, you're bidding on heartache.

I have absolutely no plans on bidding. (although that DON must be worth more than 500 euros) I did say I thought the dial and hands were not original in the post, I may be a novice but not that much of a novice! ;)

What would you say is a 'good price'?

Christ !!! ………Have they taken a Dremel to the watch ???

Don Bezel is close to 2,000 Euros in that aged, but still very presentable condition

Would like to see movement images before estimating value ?

    ::puke::

That is one of the most unattractive Speedmasters I've ever seen. Hopefully the harsh pictures are making it look worse than it is, but aside from the bezel, which has a certain charm, it's horrid.

Purely VAP for me and unless they have an extract confirming its a Speedmaster movement, those parts might not be worth a whole lot.

If the movement is good and in the right range, it will probably break more than 6k. For me, 5k or less might be ok. Need more / better pics of the case to say for sure .

One of the most beautiful DONs I've ever seen. The rest is not worth much

So, I’m not too proud to show my noobness...

Is the dial supposed to be pre-“Professional”?

Are the hands supposed to be swords or big arrow?

Yes, dial should be pre pro.

No, hands should be baton, assuming it's actually a 105.003

    Which is correct?
    The case or dial.
It really depends upon what caliber movement is inside.

Edit: since it has a don bezel, I agree the dial should probably be an 105.003 version

Does that dial fit on a 321?

True, but it's either a 105.003 with incorrect dial, or a total put together. :)

So the hands are correct if it’s a 105.003?

No, but an 861 (with that dial) would fit in the case.

So assuming everything is OEM and it has a 321 and were to be parted out... would a value of about US$5.5k be reasonable in today’s market?

Since you have no idea of exactly what ( bastardised ) Movement is inside the case

And you are willing to take the risk…that it might be another ‘collection of parts’

I would not pay anything above $4.5 k

I think it would if you lengthen the 861 feet a bit, use glue or double sided tape. Not hard for a WM to do either.

I recently took a leap of faith on similar watch, professional 90s dial and hands but horrible photos. The price was right and I assumed I was buying 105.003 to restore, but turned out it was 2998.
