ok, I posted a little while ago that I bought my first vintage omega watch. Elegant watch it is.
BUT, i m now in question with the accuracy.

Over the last two weeks I wound the watch everyday at the same time. I noticed that in 12 hours it loses about 4-5 minutes. Usually it doesnt bother me because it works during my work hours.

It still bothers me a bit because this loss in time seems a lot to me...

The seller had serviced the watch himself before shipping it to me.

Is this loss in accuracy is a concern ? is there a way to fix this???

    Many thanks

There's the problem - you believed the seller. Half of them don't know what servicing a watch really means, and no layman does a proper job. My watchmaker estimates 80% of the "just serviced" watches sold are not. Take it to a REAL watchmaker and have it serviced.

What was the name of the eBay seller? We would like to stay away from them.

A good watchmaker should be able to make vintage watch run within reasonable accuracy (~30 sec./day, or better), unless there is a problem with incorrect or worn-out parts.

    Hope this helps,

BTW this is that cocktail watch, Cal 650 ladies calibre, unadjusted non-chronometer. Is it consistently +4-5 minutes?

You can post anything you like! Long as its not like porn or illegal or something lol.

The reason I mentioned that its the cocktail watch is that while most of the full sized mens sized watches have very similar movements, nearly all of which are capable of chronometer performance, due to the small size of the Cal 650 everything is very compact and miniaturised and these watches were never chronometers. 4-5 minutes still sounds like a lot, but these watches were designed for beauty and elegance rather than absolute accuracy.

He agreed for me to take to a local watch repairer and let him know the repair cost... I am taking it in this tomorrow (Saturday).

If anyone is interested in my outcome from the purchase dispute

I presented Ocwatco the quote i got to fix my watch. The spring inside was never replaced hence this was the cause in loss of accuracy. The watch repairer noted that the watch was not serviced (this i cannot say if its true or not because repairer may want to make some money out of me) and the backing (of the watch) was not the original (which i believed the repairer because the difference in color tones that I noticed).

As i expected Ocwatchco said it was too expensive blah blah blah.. Their description clearly said the watch runs perfectly (load of BS). He offered me to ship it back to fix and shipping cost is all beared by him. However given the lack of accuracy of his auction description and what i recieved, i felt like I could no longer trust him. I asked for a partial refund to cover the cost repair. He offered a third of the required service cost, which pi$$ed the sh!ts out of me.

Anyhow, Ocwatchco was quick to resolve our problem and i should have "neutral"ed him on his ebay feedback (instead of positive)
