Hmmm, a bit of wear on the bezel but overall not too bad from the front ... let's see the side ... 😲

Not sure if I've ever seen worse damage to a stainless case.

The scariest part is that the seller doesn't provide an image of the back. 😲

I suspect that it may be a Franken...

Ok went down a rabbit hole. Must be my early career as a McMaster Carr Buyer. I had pumps, SS fittinngs and valves among my categories. Quick research says Cloride Salts and Chlorine. My guess, use in seawater without a good rinse, then forgotten.

Yup. Working in a photographic darkroom for a few decades I can tell you that just because it says “stainless” doesn’t mean it can withstand all exposure. Most of the chemicals we used were sulfur and salt based and although the sinks themselves were lab grade, the fittings, drains and lines weren’t. They would be an awful mess within a couple years.

I have seen some really bad pitting on stainless cases in areas that water tends to linger, like behind bracelet endlinks or under the edge of the caseback. But I've never seen something like this on a wide open exposed surface.
