What the black ribbon dial is this?!

I have a modern, 2015, Omega Speedmaster with a very similar dial to this and it’s called a ‘Geneva Wave’ IIRC. Never seen it before or since until reading this post.

Do you have a picture of your Speedmaster?

I actually think it’s a good redial. The font is just too heavy and as it’s mimicking a gilt dial, the fact that the font seems applied is a dead give away.
Had this been done on a silver dial, it’d be much easier to slip through

@PlainVanilla They are the same pattern seen in the movement. There’s an interesting article here with more information and different names for the pattern.

I know what a ribbon dial is, I own one and my avatar is a ribbon dial. The issue with the one this post is about is that it is black and black ribbon dials do not exist to my knowledge. But it appears it is a redial anyway.

Just unpacked this one yesterday ribbon dial 14761 with some crystal crazing, dial underneath very clean, radium indices.

Here are some more pictures of the watch:

The first 'A' of 'AUTOMATIC' is definitely weird.

I really enjoy arguing for the not-redial side, and when it comes to weird Omega's, I think more of them are original then not - but for some reason I perceived this watch as redial from the get-go

Probably because I think the "Seamaster" is slightly to the left, maybe SWISS MADE is a bit at the top, while I perceived the indices as Onyx, I think the 12'o clock one is a bit skewed, and maybe the surface finishes are tarnished which is usually the case on redialed watches

It’s a really good effort, but the alignment of the text is off (although this could be legit for a small run of obscure dials), the font is too thick and the serifs are missing. I could see many dealers listing this as original though.
