What tape would you use to protect the polished lug backs?

I have a minty 105.003 that’s had a strap on it for years, and the back of the lugs are pristine.

I’d like to fit a 7912 to it, but the no. 6 end-pieces always eventually bugger up the lug backs from friction. What would you recommend as the best quality tape to apply to the back of the lugs for long-term protection? Thanks.

If price is no object, Kapton/polyimide. Very thin and abrasion-resistant.

Edit: Just wanted to add that almost any high quality industrial tape will do fine. Kapton was just the first that came to mind because it's so thin and strong.

I would use 5mm Kapton tape.

Apply to lug backs and trim to shape with a sharp scalpel.

Thanks. Just stumbled upon this: metalized mylar tape. Anyone have any experience with this?

If you've got some mylar tape around, it should work fine, but Kapton has superior mechanical properties.
