My humble collection so far. The first two are my grandfather's and father's watch. Admired my dad's watch for years and finally this year purchased the next two. So what do you think I should look at next.
something much older. Perhaps a manual wind Chrono from the 40's or 50's or even a nice tank/rectangular from the 30's as a dress up watch. either that or you're looking at something "nice" like a DJ or DD.
If you would like to stay in the Omega realm, I would swap the Speedmaster and some cash for a Professional Would top off the collection, and go well with your modern Seamaster!
Before I started looking for the Quartz as my beater, I looked at some bumpers. Having a smaller wrist they would not look to far out of place.
The Speedmaster was my first purchase. I looked at the professional many years ago then had kids and never bought anything. Now they are much older and I have a good job I started looking again. I like the look but not sure about the size on my 6.5 wrist and when I started to do research, I was overwhelmed between new vs old then the iterations along the way. I definitely like the look of it and it's history.
The tuning fork/f330hz movement is not hard to get serviced. If you search Bulova Accutron or Omega f300hz service you will get many watchmakers who can service or fix these watches.
This one just came up on Ebay. I think $600 would be a good buy. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Ome...969391?hash=item2a72d1a92f:g:AfkAAOSwzaJYAjmUPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network It will sell soon. A repair typically starts at about $250 so buying a working one is important.
I am a pretty conservative guy and 10 years ago I woukd never have looked at the PO in Orange , but right now I would have a tough time picking between the full orange PO 2909.50 and the black with orange numbers. 2201.51
You have the chrono, diver and dress watch bases covered. Possibly go for a GMT/dual time of some description next. Or maybe go completely nuts and buy a 24 hour or a single-handed watch
The PO 2201.51 is indeed a good choice. A dash of orange on the dial looks good, the orange bezel is to much of a good thing. It is the model I am looking at myself as one of my next purchases. They are also not overly common on the used market.
