Bought these Loake Huxleys a couple of weeks ago.
Really comfortable and shine up a treat with chestnut shoe cream.
I had to send back a pair of Loake Gilbert's that had fallen apart after light use which had replaced a pair of Barbour Redheads that did the same. Both pairs are chukkas.
I hope I get more joy out of Loake than I did with Barbour

I think @TexOmega may or comes close. I've soldthings like Red Wings boots in the past but I've yet to thrift anything. I wear a Eur ~47 / US ~13.5 but depending upon the manufacturer and last, that works out to 12 to 13.5 in boots and typically a 13 or 14 in shoes. Perhaps those sizes are getting more common but there was a time I struggled to even to find my size when going to the average shoe store. Definitely outside of the most commonly available sizes second hand.

Thanks, man. As a product of U.S. Navy Aviation Officer Candidate School [AOCS] where we were trained exclusively by USMC Drill Instructors, I have never been able to not have shined shoes/boots.

Yes, I have collected shoes and ankle/Western boots from thrifts (80-90's-2000's).

Some I had resoled/heeled and wore and others, like these Alan McAfee Hand Benched pair, were too skinny, so they are displayed with others.

These ooze quality and I condition them yearly. Probably from the 1950's

Cool looking rubber heel caps.

Well worth the $5

This almost certainly had to be a manufacturing defect in the sole itself, I've never seen that type of sole do that. Try contacting Wolverine directly with those images?

Here we go, my €30 pair of Allen Edmonds in size 11E, which is nearly perfect for me. Perhaps 10.5E would be a slight improvement but I use disposable leather soles anyway so it is quite snug. The shoes have been used but they still got at least 80% of their life left in them. And they are so very comfy, the first heeled shoes I’ve owned that don’t pass the shock of your heel right up to your knees.

Just removed at the end of a long day and about to be banished outside. They look the 10,000 kms they've done in the past few weeks.

The chipped furniture is courtesy of the motel, not mine!

Olukai Kamuela ankle boot. uppers are well made, and really, really comfortable, like a barefoot shoe but the lowers are glued on, and seem to want to peel off in this Key West humidity (didn't seem to happen up north) . I have had a few pair over the last 10 years and they wear well, especially wit the abuse I put them through... I am taking my 2 current pairs in to the cobbler to have the lowers repaired (reglued and sewn on).

Some Florsheims that I thrifted recently as well. Unfortunately in terms of quality they aren’t half as good as the Allen Edmonds, but I’ll say that after a quick polish they cleaned up pretty well. So, they look the look, but unfortunately they don’t walk the walk.
