This watch belongs to my grandfather. It was a gift to him in 1962. It was bought I think from a dealer in the town of Cooma, New South Wales, Australia. The band is not original and the glass has been replaced once. Unfortunatly the box and any other paper work is gone. Can anyone tell me what series of Omega it is from?
I'm guessing just the international collection or whatever block they call the non-model line watches
Looks similar to a reference 2996 used for the Ranchero, but the lugs don't appear to be thick enough. Probably made in the mid-late 50's, having a caliber 284 or 285 17 jewel movement. The case reference # can be found on inside of case back. Use Omega Vintage Database to get more detailed information by searching the reference #: http://www.omegawatches.com/spirit/history/vintage-omegas/vintage-watches-database
