Just started sniffing around these as I have a number of vintage speedy's which I wear and a 3570.50 (my first watch purchased in 2008), that I don't. I'm loathed to sell it because it marks a first for me, so I'd rather find a way of giving it a life on the wrist. I think therefore that keeping the original dial and hands for posterity and replacing them with Mitsukoshi parts may be the best plan. No idea what would be a reasonable package however... so what do people think?

I had read 3 years ago the the cupboard was bare and that all the spare sets were now gone. I had heard of people paying $600 for the set. At some point economics come into play: someone will start to make copy dials that fit and charge less than the originals, or it will be worth looking for Franken-Mitsukoshis that are being off-loaded around the world due to rising value. Someone here for sure should have more accurate data than me though!

Your statements aren't entirely true. Omega / Swatch group cutoff third-party resellers of parts and instead only allowed watchmakers and other certified technicians parts accounts. The cupboard was bare for those resellers, but still accessible to those who qualified.

For independent watchmakers with Omega parts account I heard they need a serial number to attach to most of the parts orders, especially for LE pieces. Therefore getting the parts are harder now and a bit more expensive, but they're still being produced. And AD's and OB's are strictly prohibited from reselling internal parts to mod watches.

Expect to pay at minimum $800-1000 for new parts, $600-800 for the dial itself. If you must have it you're probably best off procuring one that's had the mod already performed.

    $2,850 it's insane....

Few weeks ago I found the dial and hands in the $700 range, then add mod labor cost.

But nice moded speedys are available for sale in the low $4k range...with some additional Goodies (straps, loupe, etc)...

You're about right. I forgot to mention by syaing directly by Omega = if you are appointed level 4 by Omega. Last time I orderd one it was circa 250 euros. But some dials are now restricted.

$800~1,000? That is insane! The price seems to have almost tripled since about 3 years ago.

Yes it's insane, but so is spending thousands of dollars on a device that performs worse in its sole functional purpose than a much cheaper quartz counterpart.

The price is tripled from what the actual cost is, but has about doubled in the secondary reseller market. Since the parts distribution tightening the price on the secondary market has steadily gone up about 20-25% a year although leveled off a bit recently, and I don't expect it to come down anytime soon.

It’s not anymore. They restricted all the LE dials, hence none on eBay.

The Mitsukoshi and for example also the Italian albino dial can still be ordered for CHF 250.- and 200.- bucks. A handset is around 100.- . So a very good deal for the sellers who gets 1000.- for it ::screwloose::
