Hello, Can you guys help me figure out what model this is (OMEGA Calibre 321?) and how much it's worth? Cheers.
Hey, welcome along. There are quite a lot of 321 cal Chronographs Out there... Have you managed to find any information out beyond this picture? I think we'd all love to help but a little more info would be ace.
Deporte de Suisse I feel indicates it was exported to France, the lugs sweeping almost tangentially (?) from the outer case and the round pushers seems pretty uncommon, perhaps ref. CK 2451 from the mid-40's? Do the lugs appear as if they may have had facets that have been polished? Can you get us more pictures, especially inside caseback? Value could run from $Hundreds US to $Thousands depending on what we find there! Welcome to the forum! Do you have a nickname because I keep stuttering trying to pronounce klockeliklok!
It looks like a reasonably nice example but would need to see movement pics, from recollection a UK delivered example almost identical on DS&S bracelet went through ebay about three months ago with a BIN of £1450
Thank you! The picture above isn't my clock, but one i found from the internet. Mine is the same model but doesn't say "Deporte de Suisse" What it says inside the caseback: Omega FAB SUISSE MADE ACIER STAYBRITE 174 Will try to get you more pictures. Edit: it also says 17 jewels. Just call me Rico then
Looks like a 2541. Also available as a Tissot or Lemania, all known as ref. 174 - the same number as on the inside of your caseback If you do a search for "Tissot (or Omega/Lemania) ref. 174" I'm pretty sure that you'll find a number of pictures and info.
That´s my French market 174-3, these are basically 2451´s with cal 321´s. Nice screw back chunky cases with great wrist presence These are the pictures of when I´d just bought it, pre service. The case is actually in pretty nice shape, but the crystal was shot, the crown had seen better days and there was just a little too much DNA remaining for my liking Here after service and a deep deep case clean
Wow Cristos, It's a beaut! I will definitely have mine serviced and cleaned after seeing your Here are some pictures of mine (sorry for the bad quality)
They're twins! Yours looks in fine shape and will clean up very well indeed. What is the seriel number of your movement? I'm curious which is the older sibling
13254015. Yours? It seems like only the "60 20 40" arm and "watch function" is working tho and . Nothing happens when i press start/stop. Is it difficult to repair them? (sorry for not using the right terms, this is a new hobby for me)
It would seem that the chronograph (stopwatch) part of your watch has a defect. No telling what it is until a watchmaker has looked at it. The seconds counter ("60-20-40") and the hour and minute hands ("watch function") are all part of the time telling function, while the two other subdials = minutes ("30-10-20") and hours (12-....) and the long, thin hand which points at 12 on the main dial are all part of the chronograph, and should start running when pressing the top pusher, stop when the top pusher is activated again and reset when the lower pusher is pressed. It is not the complexity of the movement that makes it difficult to service/repair, it's the scarcity of parts. A competent watchmaker can easily service the watch, but getting the correct parts can be a pain. I have a not too dissimilar Tissot Chronograph with the same movement, here's pictures from the service: http://watchguy.co.uk/cgi-bin/library?action=show_photos&wat_id=1869 As yours is an Omega, it has a higher sales value than the Tissot/Lemania versions, which are otherwise identical. I'm unsure of the value, but would guess that it's around the $2,500-3,000 mark? Or am I being optimistic? A service (without parts) are probably around $300-400. Please post some more photos (would love to see a better photo of the dial), as it looks to be very attractive! How did you get it?
Mine's 12490793 which is around 1950/51 and yours is around 1952. As has been said take it to a watchmaker who has good experience with vintage watches, or try to get a recommendation here on OF for somebody near to you. I wouldn't wear it or press anymore buttons until it has had a service. It might cost a little money but will certainly be worth it. Another important thing do not let whoever services it polish the case at all. Only ultrasonic cleaning. The crystal is another story, if it has cracks in it replace it, if it is just scuffed and scratched then clean it with a product called Polywatch ( costs about EUR 5 ) and can make a huge difference to the appearance of a watch.
Unfortunately I don't have the time to find someone to fix it now. Anyone interested in buying it or make a swap?
Write to one of the moderators on these boards and ask if you can be allowed to post a sales post. Good luck with the sale, can't imagine it won't sell instantly (if you're not too greedy!)
My local watchmaker wanted about 2000 usd to send it to omega for service - the reason for selling it. I'm sure it's possible to have it serviced for less than that, but where?
