What is the best hommage you can think of?

This comes to mind when on holidays and your beloved watches stay home and your wrist needs something withsstanding sand, saltwater, children playgrounds, sports of any kind. These pieces collect a lot of dings, scratches, beats and cuffs, and in my case: they go into saltwater no matter what.
I wonder what is your choice for this if you want the look of a true classic without beeing afraid of harming your vintage watch.
I do not want to advertise any brand or watch so I will stay behind for a moment and see what is your proposal....
Happy to see your hommage of a true classic!

I don't buy replicas. If I'm traveling to an area where I'm concerned about theft or exposing any of my watches to harsh conditions, they stay behind and I wear an inexpensive waterproof Swiss Army watch with a quartz movement.

The idea of a replica doesn’t make me feel happy. Momentum has reissued their own (though it was then known as Chronosport) SeaQuartz. 300m should do. Reissues can be a lot of fun

Ok, I see there are very nice options for harsh holiday moments. I even heard rumors that some have their vintage Seamaster 300 with new gaskets in the water...

These are the options I can think of right now:

A. True vintage
B. Vintage beater
C. Reedition
D. Hommage
F. Cheapy quartz watch

Anyone here that takes their 60ies Omega SM 300 to the water?

To the water, yes, all the time. In the water? No, never.

I wouldn’t wear an homage watch. I’d wear either a cheapish 60’s seamaster or a Seiko. Or a Sub which is my modern daily and I wear that pretty much everywhere I’m concerned about wearing anything vintage.

It would be crazy to intentionally subject a vintage Seamaster 300 to water. These are valuable watches that are highly collectible, so why would anyone with common sense take that risk? As others have said, get a cheap quartz beater watch that is also waterproof.

Seiko and Bulova make it easy. Just get a re-issue of a classic :).

Stole this from someone's watchuseek post:

Plenty of nice semi-vintage or re-edition quartzes for that purpose, like the above Momentum, CWC or my Scubapro

So better see it as just another valid reason to buy a decent watch !

Great options so far! The Scubapro would be my favourite .... it features all that a diver needs!

My choice presently is this: Steinhart MilSub Hommage:

I love the doomed cristal, vintage looking lume, unidirectional bezel with 120 very precise clicks, screw down crown, sellita movement within 1-2sec/day, safe in the water.

A lazy day at the danish coast...

Just my opinion but I think that looks really cheap.

I’d rather get a Seiko SKX

I am quite happy with either my Bulova milship or the Antarctic Diver no date pictured below, i think especially Nivada is doing a great job reissuing their classics. It has better specs and construction than the original, while staying quite faithful. It's great that I can wear these on the water, cannot say the same for almost 99 percent of my collection!

The Bulova Mil-Ships is also very tempting...
